This is REALLY annoying me now

Recommended Posts

I do empathize some what, but i really think its a deserving cause and as such am more than happy to recommend it to any one (and everyone). It's free software that works very very well, and i can't honestly see why any one would want to stay on IE after using it. IT Evangalism : its great :p

*cough* Use Opera *cough*

Can't you see? FireFox is better for everyone. It *always* runs faster then IE. It *always* starts up just fine and never crashes! I KNOW WHAT YOU WANT BETTER THAN YOU! YOU WANT FIREFOX!

Now, if that seems a bit ridiculous, that's what you sound like if you're saying "get firefox, it's better" in a thread discussing a problem with IE.

Hello. I'm a topless chick. I'm not really a board function, but feel free to drool over me.

If it was a thread about IE, then I understand that one should not post that you should use FF instead. Thats just trolling. I always use the report button.

I use Firefox but try my best to not throw it in people's faces. It's the same crap that happened way back when about Trillian. It will go away within some time.

a good suggestion is to add a little footnote to your first post. for example, if you posted about pop-ups in IE2, write: "this is not an invitation to flame and is not a discussion around other web browser"

The thing is they do put that, but the fanboys do it anyways.

You know you want it:

Yes, I agree, it is annoying, but you can do anything. It is like those people with almost naked woman in their sigs. ****es me off, but there is nothing I can do except add their server IP addresses to good 'ol ZoneAlarm blocklist.

Um, a less drastic solution would be to just disable sigs.

1) It's faster

2) If you really want to see somebody's sig, you can just click on their name.

Most people here have sigs I don't mind. The ones that make me annoyed are a minority.

Humerously, you can use Firefox's image blocker to block the sigs you don't like. Maybe shockz should download firefox and use the image blocker to block the firefox sigs. :D

Good answer

Honestly though, sometimes these threads are like, "I want IE to have pop-ip blocking and tabbed browsing and all kinds of other cools stuff," and then someone says, "just use firefox" and then the thread poster has a little hissy fit because they want to use IE, and they're cool installing whatever else ontop of IE to get it done.

Granted, if someone asked how to edit the hosts file and someone came in and said "use firefox" that would be annoying, but sometimes it is the most logical answer to the question asked.

I don't think anyone else couldhave put it any better. Like someone else said, this is just like going into a Windows thread and said "Use Linux, you won't have this problem anymore!".

How is the "most logical answer" to how to edit the host file "use FireFox!"?

Like?

Like when someone comes in saying they want pop-up blocking and tabbed browsing and where's the download for the google toolbar for IE? I mean, the other options are to wait for the next release of IE, or install another program anyway. And half the time they ask without ever trying Firefox, someone says, "try firefox" and they freak out saying they want to use IE.

If it was just a "suggestion" saying, "If you haven't tried it, try firefox, it has all these features", that is one thing, but going into a thread where a user is having an issue, and someone posts "IE Sucks, download Firefox" is another.

And half the time they ask without ever trying Firefox, someone says, "try firefox" and they freak out saying they want to use IE.

On this subject, the reason why people freak out is because so many people will say "IE Sucks, use Firefox" that gets old, and it doesn't help them fix your problem.

I tried firefox. At first, I liked it. but then after a few days, I got tired of having to play with settings, and "Tweak" it every 5 minutes to get the new features working the way I wanted. I don't care if other people use it, but when people are stupid and go into threads with IE problems and say "Im L33t0, I use FireFox, IE sucks, use firefox" that is just trolling, and I don't think should be tollerated.

I agree, except for that in about 80% of the threads I see here, firefox would probably be the simplest solution. That's not exactly a biased opinion, I've used IE, Mozilla, Firebird/fox, Netscape, Opera, Konqueror, Mosaic, and Lynx ... at this point I fail to see how Firefox isn't the best out of all of them

Plus, you've got to vocal when you're such a minority

You need to go back in this thread and read my Firefox is a religion post:

yeah something should be done about people hijacking threads to mention FireFox. I dislike Firefox if not for the asses that use it. I sick of seeing crap about firefox this firefox that. If you have it and think it great go have sex with it and leave the rest of us alone.

I like IE, it does what I need it to do. Browse the internet.

(no I don't want or care what Firefox does)

fred666, that is bloody brilliant. I'd almost like to see that on a wallpaper or something.

@Storm, I feel the same way as you, if someone wants support for a certain program, then thats exactly what they should get. I'm a Firefox user and I don't go around preaching it, hell it crashes quite a bit on me, and is far from perfect.

How about this, the Firefox / IE / [insert Rival Browser Here] thing has been done to death, so lets bitch about GMail. I'll get it started:

[Trolling]

GMAIL SUCKS! GMAIL SUCKS! GMAIL SUCKS!!!!!!!! WTF, WHY THE HELL ARE YOU PEOPLE GOING ON AND ON AND ON ABOUT A STUPID E-MAIL SERVICE!!!!! YOU'D THINK WE WERE DEALING WITH THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST WITH ALL THE CRAP STIRRED UP ABOUT E-MAIL!!! WHAT KIND OF LOSER PAYS FOR AN INVITE FOR SOMETHING THAT WILL BE FREE IN A FEW MONTHS!?!?! WHY THE $#%@ DO I WANT TO ARCHIVE SPAM AND JUNKMAIL THAT GOOGLE SENDS ME IN EXCHANGE FOR 1GB OF E-MAIL SPACE THAT I'LL NEVER EVEN USE!?!?!?!

[/Trolling]

(Note, the above was just an example of what could be after GMail is in fact released. Moderators, please edit if you feel I've opened Pandora's Box.)
