Lag spikes using Comcast

Because counterstrike uses extremely small packets to send information, you get this "lag spike." This occurs because your modem has a buffer, so it "waits" for additional packets before it sends them; this is done so your computer can compress as much data as it can (ex: 512bytes compresses better than 32) and therefore achieve the highest "speed" it can.

This can add latency to your pings. There are certain "gaming oriented" modems which do not have this "feature" in them. Most of them (from what I've heard anyway) are external. Perhaps you should investigate them.
