Xbench your Mac...

Recommended Posts

Steve    2

I used this App on my cube sometime ago, and I'm gonna benchmark my bro's eMac too in a moment!

Anyhow, with the amount of people coming in here, I figured it could be helpful them, to see phyiscal results of a benchmarks, on a array of systems, people are using here. Also, Price vs Performance could come into play. So maybe if you feel ok to, put down how much you paid for your Mac, as well as the Xbench benchmark...

Aside from newcomers to the Mac Scene, it'll also be helpful for current Mac owners to maybe see where and what they'd get from potential upgrades. I knew before benchmarking I wanted more RAM. Seeing other Benchmarks after doing mine, its highlighted more so...

Anyhow, If wanna give it a shot - Xbench is here (Free - 250kb) http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/10081

My Benchmark was submitted... http://ladd.dyndns.org/xbench/merge.xhtml?doc1=65725 (I think that will work)

Summary -

Dual 2GHz G5 / 512Mb RAM / ATi Radeon 9600 Pro / 160Gb SATA

Xbench Score : 193.99

Cost : ?1850>

PearPC results would be completely inaccurate. It even says that on the PearPC site.

Also, it's a Dual 1.25GHz G4...

That gave it some extra oomph...

No, it's a single 1.25GHz. It's a Powerbook he ran it on...

what is it measuring? is it cpu only bench? or does other components influence it? I see on website it mentions OpenGL fixes, so vidcard could scew overall result and overshadow cpu. Since vid cards are the same you shoul either limit this bench or find another one that only tests cpu+memory+fsb which is what you really interested in.

otherwise as Dazzla pointed out you can't really make a true value judgement.
