Warning levels are not reduced by staff, unless the reason for the warning was found unjust by the rest of the staff or an administrator. The main reason for the warnings is to give the staff a quick way identify members who may be trouble makers. A 100% warning does not mean a banning, infact Neowin hardly ever bans members for ever, unless they are consistant troublemakers and other avenues of punishment of been taken (warnings, restrictions, temp bans, etc.) and no longer work. That being said, admins sometimes take things into consideration that perhaps the moderators don't know about, and have been known to reduce warnings if a member who has received one has been in good standing for a long time since getting it. Any questions? BTW, sorry if you thought the moderators were waving their "flag" at you.
BugMeNot
being administrator on one msgboard and moderator on another i'm well aware of warning levels. my comment was about the fact majority of 'staff' that posted in this thread add nothing usefull to the discussion other than bragging about the fact that they are moderators, especially BOOGSoftball?. if you think that's not so, just re-read his posts in this thread. very unprofessiona:no:o:

Being am od here isn't easy and can be out right stressful at times. If we can make a quick joke here or there, we do. No one is bragging, we're just lightening the mood. BugMeNot
well if stress is getting to you, maybe you should rethink about being a mod. plus from what i've seen posted, you have your own "mods only" forum, i'm sure you are blowing off all kinds of steam there talking **** about other members where rest of the community can't see it. not every thread needs jokes or lightening of the mood..neowin has jokes forum for that :/ sometimes serious discussion is in order. I hear you have to be extra special to become a mod if you were warned. Goofy. :p:p All of us. The first was in regard to someone asking how we ban. It's really not for public knowledge. The second is regarding the fact that if you have been warned there is precedent to become a mod. The third was a simple remark to Joel about his post. The last is regarding who warned Toxxik. This thread was answered in the first 5 posts. Would you like if we closed every thread the minute it was answered??? The forums would have an awful lot of locked threads:rolleyes:s:

The forums would have an awful lot of locked threads:rolleyes:s: Just to add to what BOOG said; you didn't start the thread, so if and when it has been answered is not really up to you to decide. Second, you don't know all the reasons this thread might stay open. Maybe we've been threatened with multiple beatings with wet noodles or ferrets in the pants if we close threads for no reason. The point is, you don't know. As BOOG pointed out this is a discussion forum, not only Q & A.

Steven P. Administrators Posted July 8, 2004 Administrators Share Posted July 8, 2004 I dont need to answer a thread already answered by moderators.. however the short answer is, every members case is treated individually there are no set rules for reducing warning levels but I believe this will be implemented with invision board 2.0 the track record stays with you however. Brandon
i think your warning lvl should get reduced by 20% every 6-9 months of good behavior (IE no reffurrels or stuff or other warnings)

You make that kind of post yet I get warned. From what I've read, your warning level doesn't go down but can be lowered if you keep on good tems and behave as we all should. You have to take it and learn from it (even if it was completely unwarrented to begin with) and hopefully it will better the Neowin community in the end.
