How F'n annoying are Cicadas?

Recommended Posts

Well there literally a couple billion in my development woods. These things are so loud. Its almost deafening(sp?).

If you dont know what they are, they are in the US, mainly east coast (especially Maryland) where I live. These things come around once every 17 years from May till late June. Basically they hatch, have lots of sex, lay eggs and die, 17 years later it repeats.

Worst part is they are blind and will jump all over you. They are nasty too. But they sometimes make me feel sexy cause I know when they do jump on me, they are humpin me.

These things havent hit the peak of the noise, it will only get worse mid july. There are just TRILLIONS upon TRILLIONS of these things every where I go.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Aye friggin loud. But harmless as grass. Go out in the woods and step on em.

Be happy it's once every 17 years.

ok everything sounded great until the dying part .....and the 17 years of waiting

but besides that (especially "have lots of sex") was great :woot: :woot:

My golf professional recently told me about those, but i havent gotten them yet. I live in connecticut and I was told we get them badly here.

YES. I live in CT too. I'm told they're very loud.... but I haven't lived here for 17 years.

There's two varieties, at least here...

There's the 13 year variety and the 17 year variety. I think we had the 13 year variety one 4 years ago...

I was like 11 at the time, but I remember those ****ers... We don't get them here in clarksville, but in nashville (40 minutes away), where I have my violin lesson every week, they have them like crap (at least they did last time)

I also live in Connecticut. We shouldn't be seeing them until 2013, as they were last seen in masses in 1996. There is a breed of the cicadas though that pop up once a year around august though, but nothing like the 17 year variety

I'm happy I am 20 floors up.

Though on occasion a seagull flies into one of my glass doors :pinch:

I just pick em up and toss over the railing (damn tourists get what they deserve).

I saw a few of the 1yr type while on a post-prom camping trip to Alleghany state park, in NY. They're no biggie. They just make too much damn noise.

Yeah, we have the little mongrels here in Australia. I haven't heard/seen of them in a long time. Why do they come back on the 17 yr ratio? How was that worked out. I played those WAV's, and one just sounds bloody annoying, imagine what a billion would sound like.

Final comment; It sucks to be you! :woot:
