I got a tattoo

Recommended Posts

I got a tattoo whilst on holiday in Turkey. Its is my first one, and should say 'Peace' in Chinese, which is written on my left arm. It looks good but now i am not 100% sure that it does say Peace at all. I thought it did as it looked all professional in the shop etc, but after checking with a Chinese guy down the road, he informes me that it looks Japanese<--- (excuse spelling  ). He did say that it is nothing rude etc, but he was not 100% sure what it said either.

Is there anyone on here that may be able to translate it, should i get a picture of it on here at some point, or is there any program on the web which would translate ther word Peace to Chinese or Jap for me, that you people may know of?

Thanks. God i feel rather dumb not finding out somehow before doing it

for a start - you get what you deserve, if you're getting a tat, make sure you know *EXACTLY* what it says, and how it'll look, remember - once you have it, you always have it, even if removed, you'll have scarring

just for all those people out there who pick an off the shelf tat.... that makes you really alternative, just like the other 50 guys with the same tat...

secondly, post an image of the tat so people can see it and translate.

No. IT was written using the letters of the Chinese alphabet, because he did not have the Chinese sort of symbol for Peace. So the whole tattoo contains 5 Chinese letters.

Thanks,

Rich

it's less your back i'm worried about, you already screwed up on so many levels, why stop now. eh?

i'm more worried about other people having the same dumb idea.

i seriously advise against getting a tat where you can't take it back easy should you have any problems.

as far as why i'm telling you this, i'm well into piercing (myself, and some on others) and at some stage want to go into tatooing too.

Well, if i required your opinion on the matter of what i have done, i would ask it, ok. Now please stop preaching to me... quite frankly i couldn't care a less what profession you are hoping to get into.

Should i require your opinion on this matter, i will let you know when i start the thread entitled, 'Please let me know that i am a pillock for this'.

Thanks for your unwanted comments on what i have done.

You went into it with the best intentions, I'm sure, but you may have something on your body that could be a string of words meaning something... less than flattering? The best thing to do is post a picture so people can translate all possible interpretations and see what you're dealing with.

Hmmmm, yeah it looks good and the Chinese guy said it looks like it could do, but he was unsure. I will have to post a pic next week, as i dont have a camera other than at work.

Thanks for your help people.

The possibilities are endless... "Stupid American" or "I wanted a tattoo, so this is it." or "I sleep with animals" or something. Who knows!
