I got this from my sister today...

Ok all you Coke and Diet Coke drinkers. This is for you.

Subject: Water or Coke?

We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like this before.

Water:

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half world population)

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a U-Washington study.

5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?

COKE:

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

For Your Info:

1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for "highly corrosive materials."

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water or coke?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if that was all the truth.

Thank God I don't drink pop anymore. I carry a 1000ml bottle of water around with me wherever I go and usually have 800ml to 2000ml of more water per evening-time.

That is around 100oz per day, which is a lot of cups of water.

I don't think the coke ones are true, but I think the water ones are. I drink Apple Juice in the morning, Coke/Pepsi during the day, and water at night.

Man, I don't touch Coke/Pepsi products anymore. I'm a water/juice person. Oh, and don't go thinking you're 'clever' by drinking diet coke/pepsi instead--those both have aspartame in them. Read up on it--it's amazing the FDA allowed the stuff to be used at all.

Mmm.. Diet Acid.

I remember when I'd drink coke like I needed an IV.

Now I can't stand the stuff. Apple juice is a good source of fiber and quite tastey, Banana (Banana milk anyone?) is a good source of potassium, milk -- duh, and water helps rehydrate and fills you up faster. :cross:

Now I drink bottled water & apple juice during the day and milk at night. Egads, I've reverted to childhood!:o

Everyone take note: The post below this one is from a Female!

hehe ... just had to give ya **** Jewelzz ;) [not sure why ... impulsive I guess]

The coke and water facts are indeed true. I have read about them more than one places already and was told once by a friend to clean my toilet with coke. Hahaha!

By the way, it's so simple, you can feel how acidic coke is after you drink it. The weird feeling it leaves on your teeth after drinking coke... ugh, sick!

Yeah, I used to drink like 10 cans of pepsi a day, I just couldn't stop damn it, I was hooked

But now I've changed my way, after I've gone though the twelth step program (similar to the AA program), I now only drink water.

AHHH stop drinking coke you say?! BLASPHAMY!!! i must now go drink my ritualistic daily 3 gallons of coke... if i can do it in one gulp, i shall be taken away into a sea of it and swim there with the bottle caps in happines!!!

but seriously.. give up my good source of caffine? what will a caffine addict such as me use to stay up during the wee hours of the morning and night [such as now]?

oh well, i have had a drink of milk everyday for 15 yaers... that should cancel out the bad of coke, right?

Caffeine? Coffee anyone? Heh, welps, it is your own health :)

*doctor's note: drinking coffee ritually is bad too, many symptoms of badness, one particular obvious one: your teeth will have stains on them

I believe all of the coke things that were listed. I've heard about getting stains out with coke and it really works when your at a restruant or where ever.

Your body is mostly water anyways, so common sence would tell you that water would probably help the body heal itself from just about anything. I'm in Phoenix, AZ and I drink about a gallon of water a day (well try to at least) and it sure does help.

Now, this may or may not be true, but I heard that Osama Bin Laden or his family own the rights to the ingredient in coke or pepsi or both that prevents all the other ingredients from seperating. It sounds suspect, but, just in case it is true, I don't really want to fund OBL. I propose a temporary ban on cola products until he is dead. Once he is dead then we shall all drink to our hearts content, or bladders.:D

Yeah, right. This sort of thing always comes up when there is a new public enemy #1. Next you'll be telling me Colonel Cadaffi bought most of one of the largest football (soccer) clubs in Italy!

Wait, that is actually the one true case. Never mind...

Drinking water is a good tip for dieters - very few people drink enough water but it helps metabolism which will help you loss weight. Also, if you drink these 8 glasses of water at 1oC instead of the normal room temperaturish temperature water, your body will use the amount of energy in a small biscuit to warn it up. Co-incidently, the amount of energy in a small biscuit is the amount the average American overeats every day.
