@Prem Just Ntl and Telewest from all reports

@Rancor - if ya are already connected through a set top box ya are actually getting 250k due to the overheads the set top box use's, if not then ya only get the 150k to the upgrade :)

Checky

naaa just cable modem.

what other places? we only have BT-run ADSL, ntl or Telewest to choose from! BT-run ADSL completely blows, I've had ntl for a while now and its SO much better, none of this random disconnection or line errors bollox, and no crappy alcatel stingray-POS ADSL modem either

sorry rant over

My NTL cable box likes to freeze sometimes.

man u ppl have slow speeds. my 5mbps/1mbps costs $CAD 39.99/month

When you live in this country, you get used to everything being hugely overpriced.

This comes as no surprise.

The trouble with BT as the monopoly in phonle lines is that if they did a change like this they would have OFCOM (similar to the FCC in the UK) on their ass before you can say 'uncompetitive behaviour'.

However, Plus.net does do 2mbit ADSL with no transfer caps for ?40/month and 1mbit ADSL with no caps for ?30/month. Not a bad deal and if my phone line was short enough I'd of ordered by now.

Quick Question.

I currently have 150k on NTL and the fastest i get is 18k, and it doesnt happen very often. I normally get 14-16k though, and i think i should be getting faster.

What would be the max/average speed you download files on your connection speed?

  • 4 weeks later...

Has anyones broadband from NTL actually been upgraded yet? just curious because they seem to be planning maintinence every week in areas across England, just wish they'd hurry up on Northern Ireland.
