Bearded Kirklander Share Posted September 22, 2004 Only game I have tried so far that needed 128 meg AGP Aperture setting was PainKiller. I've had it set at 128 ever since I tried out that game and all it did was stop it from crashing I guess. I didn't feel like changing it back to 64, and have not noticed much in the way of problems. kev64 Share Posted September 22, 2004 I think mine is set to 256mb, is that bad?
Bearded Kirklander Share Posted September 22, 2004 I think mine is set to 256mb, is that bad? If it works for you and doesn't cause any problems, it should be fine. :)

Samoa Share Posted September 23, 2004 I found 256, or 512 to work well for me. The minor differences in benches don't matter as much as does stability IMO. nice review though (Y)
coolmonk Share Posted October 12, 2004 I have mine set to 512MB for optimal performance!
islanq Share Posted October 12, 2004 I have mine set to 512MB for optimal performance! 584716627[/snapback] 512MB is over kill, this review was obviously made before the 256MB DDR-3 boom hit. I wonder what the optimal aperture size is for all the new gen cards.
coolmonk Share Posted October 12, 2004 I used 512MB because of a review I read in Maximum PC.
jaxstraww Share Posted December 31, 2006 (edited) Trying to keep my socket 478 going. Getting a X1950PRO AGP tomorrow. My MOBO only goes to 64MB in aperture size. Now that the cards are much improved has the need for a large aperture gone down? I know 64 and 128 are the targets. Is 64MB going to hamper this card? I have 2GB's on RAM on the system. jaxstraww Share Posted April 7, 2008 The 1950PRO is a beast. I flashed my BIOS to allow different aperture sizes. My 3Dmark didn't change at all. Not thinking this is a big deal or worth laboring about since the benchmark results didn't change.
soldier1st Share Posted April 7, 2008 the 128 setting is best, anything less or more is overkill or underkill.
