* looking at iTunes 4.5 *, * looking at WMP 10 *, * looking at iTunes 4.5 again *, * looking back to WMP 10*, * runs back to iTunes 4.5 on precious eMac *

I'm running WMP 10 now on my Windows XP box and it looks more like WMP 9 with a new strange skin. It doesn't fit in with the standard Windows XP look at all, it's all shiny and stuff and Luna isn't anything like that. But that you can rip cd's in mp3 format now is cool(iTunes could already do that so it's not a new cool fantastic thing, but okay). And I don't like the fact that there are 3rd party music stores integrated in it that you can't change (as far I know of). I hope Microsoft includes some more updates than this, and some new cool skins. I just know that they can do better than this! :D

XP_2003, is l3codeca.acm or l3codecp.acm in C:\Windows\System32?? Ripping into the MP3 format will _not_ be included. You must pay Fraunhofer for the encoder first.

thanks

does it play flac?

Is there a directshow decoder for it? No, it does not support adding them to the library with tags, but you can play anything with a directshow filter installed.

hmmm I thought that someone over here said that you could rip cd's in mp3 format. Haven't done it myself yet, since I have my whole mp3 collection on my mac ;)

As soon as you pay FhG (really you are paying Intervideo, cyberlink, etc - but's it's Fraunhofer encoder) for the encoder you can rip CD's, but this will not be included in any realease of the player.

will it play divx?

Sure, why not. Just install the DivX codec or any other Dshow deocder that does DivX.

If you have l3codecp.acm that means you have pirated software installed! You should have l3codeca.acm, that's the standard decoder. l3codecp.acm is pure pirated crap.

does the radio function still work? i couldn't find it

Q. Where did the Radio Tuner go?

A. To access radio stations, click Guide, and then click Radio. (You must be connected to the Internet to use the Guide feature.)

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...spx#radio_tuner

They seem to have made all of the lyrics, artist info, etc subscription based now.. so you can only view lyrics (as far as i've seen) via a plugin such as SongWriterWMP or via the advanced tag editor which is very small.

Great! It would be so annoying trying to view the lyrics with the advanced tag editor. They better bring some lyrics functionality back before the final release.

I don't understand you sorry.

But that's too bad that you'll need 3rd party programs to rip cd's in mp3 format under Windows :(. But I'm sure they'll have their reasons :ninja:

Becuase they don't OWN it! Sounds like a good one to me. If you can rip Cd's in WMp you already have a pirated encoder installed or you have purchased and install the true rip pack at some point. It's not there from this beta install, it can't be.

Maybe there will be a new MS signed theme to go along with SP2 that will match? *wishful thinking*

    • Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion to bring snowy region, new updates also coming by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Capcom had a surprise waiting for Dragon's Dogma fans today in the Nintendo Direct presentation. The company revealed an expansion for the second installment with a name that should be familiar to series veterans. Coming later this year, Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is promising a massive new region to explore, new monsters, fresh skills to learn, and more. The studio says players will be heading to the Northern region of the world, named Norgan, to find new secrets about an undying "Fallen Dragon." There will be forgotten relics that the protagonist can find to unlock fresh weapons and skills the expansion is introducing. Players will also be able to find mysterious equipment from a previous Arisen as a part of the expansion, all part of 12 Lost Rites Dungeon Challenges they must complete to gain access. In Neowin's own review, I found Dragon's Dogma 2 to be an impressive RPG when it launched back in 2024, giving the title an 8.5/10 for its class variants, companion system, and immersive exploration. "Once a prosperous region of the kingdom of Vermund, it was abandoned many years ago for reasons unknown," says Capcom about the new region. "Long has it been since any soul traveled its paths. Blanketed in heavy snow, these frigid lands are home to savage hordes and creatures of unbelievable power. Those who are capable of vanquishing such fearsome foes, or those who possess a keen eye for exploration, will find themselves rewarded with powerful relics." Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion launches on October 9, 2026, with a $29.99 price tag. Ahead of the expansion release, Capcom is also planning to release two free updates to the base game. The first will land tomorrow, June 10, bringing more accessible fast travel with an Eternal Ferrystone and other quality-of-life adjustments. The second update will land sometime in August, aiming to improve frame rates, add more save slots, and bring even more community-requested adjustments. This expanded Dark Arisen edition is also launching on the Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day the content comes to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
    • Classic themes are just the colors on the bar like the olden days, if you use the image themes, it does fancy transparent backgrounds and it makes the elements of the app look like they are transparent bubbles. This sample image shows what it looks like.
    • Good point, unfortunately. NextDNS has far more filters and workarounds than uBlock, and it's easy to implement.
