Guitar Strings

Recommended Posts

Hey, i really didnt know where to post this, so i just posted it here.

Anyway. I'm looking for some really good guitar strings, ones for my Gibson Les Pual Studio.

Im looking for strings with a really rich deep rhythm sound, the ones i have now are good for soloing and stuff

but now im the rhythm guitar in the band and i need strings that i can play really deep and clean.

Thanks a bunch.

Hmm... it's the pickups that control the sound more so than the strings - try selecting the rhythm pickup and using the tone controls on your guitar. As far as good strings go, I've found Ernie Ball Slinkies to be about the best.

The thicker the better. I play Ernie Ball Heavy Top Slinky Bottoms, as a nice mix of rhythm and lead, but if you got a set like the bottom end of mine ... 12s or 13s, they would sound good.

Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom (10-13-17-30-42-52) are really nice. i've got 'em on one of my guitars tuned down to C. works great. nice rich deep sound.

these work great if you want that nice baritone sound. they're best used on a guitar with a fixed bridge but i've got 'em working for me with my Floyd.

I use GHS 9 myself. Anything above 9 tends too hurt my fingers, though I havent used anything BUT GHS 9s for some 12 years or so. I might try 10s when I restring them, but I swear by GHS.

Being heavily into guitars.....Elixir strings..

They sound incredible and now make electric strings that sound great. Now they are a bit heavy on price but well worth the price. I usually use for jammin D'Addario, same as Joe Satriani uses, and for live shows I will go for more of a Dean Markley Blue Steels

I use all 9 gauge 42 being low E...My action is L O W and straight and guitar was relentlessly innotated over and over till I said YES. I am a bit of a perfectionist on Tone, and Pitch as well as setup

Main Axe: Ibanez

anything JS, JEM, or RG
