b3ta
What is the point YOU are trying to make? What does Bill Gates giving away some of his money have to do with the fact that people should make their own? Bill Gates is heavily pressured to make contributions, and maybe he feels that it is the right thing to do as well, and so he does so. People should make their own money, though, regardless of how much other people give away. This thread was meant to be LIGHTHEARTED, and give people the chance to imagine and maybe dream how wonderful it would be if they were given that money. This was NOT meant to be a thread where every Microsoft lover posts how glorious and wonderful Bill Gates / Microsoft is. You have no sense of humor. Soviet
a sense of humor and pretending what you would waste a fortune on is two different things. but in light of that, what would i do... I'd buy $500,000 worth of Microsoft stock.
b3ta
Indee(Y)Y)All this greed in the world, all based on Bill Gates' wealth. Radish? Greed? This thread has nothing to do with it. It was about letting people dream a little.
altezza Veteran Posted June 3, 2004 Veteran Share Posted June 3, 2004 No thanks. I wouldn't accept it. It was the money he earned from his hard work. I'd rather have money earned from my job, therefore I feel lot more proud. I know this is just humor or for stress relieving. But the dream is over...time to grow up and think maturely. gawdflesh
Well, tell me what you want me to post, since you're not getting what you want... Ok, fine, I'd buy a modest house, pay off some bills, probably get nicer cars, and bank the rest in the college fund for my kids. Happy now? Glad I was afforded this oppurtunity to dream. While I agree he worked hard at the beginning, it's quite plain to see that most of his money came about through monopolistic policies. Maybe, he's giving the money away now, to charities and other organizations, because he doesn't feel good keeping it all. Maybe he has a conscience and is trying to venerate himself in the eyes of his peers. Who knows. I want going to take this topic to this depth but since we're here and most people have taken this thread to this low, might as well talk about it. RadishTM Veteran Posted June 3, 2004 Veteran Share Posted June 3, 2004 ,Jun 3 2004, 03:51] Greed? This thread has nothing to do with it. It was about letting people dream a little. I can not believe some people. So defensive. Indeed it does have everything to do with greed, why should people dream what they can do with another person's wealth - when they can earn it themselves and do the real thing? Big difference. imtoomuch
I know this is a theoretical question, but he shouldn't give anybody any money except for charities, of course. And he does give millions to charities. But anyway, he earned it and so he deserves the money. Capitalism, baby. ;)

Unfortunately too many people were still dreaming. Well of course this is for fun thinking...but in reality we have to work hard to get money for our daily living. Some people lucky and some people aren't that lucky, so it's entirely based on people's luck and their motivation to survive for living.
