Chris Allen Veteran Posted June 4, 2004 Veteran Share Posted June 4, 2004 We've all pulled pranks on friends or whoever with their computer. What are some of your favorite pranks. I'm talking about using someone elses computer while their out of the room and pulling something they'll find later. Nothing destructive, just something creative. I always like changing someones homepage to hotmale.com because there is a TONNE of pop-ups that just infuriate whoever opens the IE browser (provided they dont' have a pop-up blocker). What have you guys done? Explain what you've done and how you did it. :D

Checky
couple of the best we did was bomb someone else's desktop with like 3000 notepad docs over the network while they were in another proggy.. that was fun... or even better was making a screenshot of someones desktop with the icons on and all and then removing everything .. was amusing watching them get annoyed that they couldnt click anything :D:D:D Checky
BananaMan
Gone into Control Panel -> Mouse -> Orientation (requires Intellimouse/Logitech Mouse software) and set the orientation to something bizarre, watched the friend become very confused and frustrated. Also ran a program which caused the mouse to begin moving by itself when the mouse is left idle. Too many more to mention.

Odyssey
My very first computer teacher was who I played a prank on. He was the kind of guy who always had to be right and if you asked a question, he treated you like you were stupid. Anyway, my friend and I got hold of a program on a Mac CD called "No Vowels". He put it on a floppy, and we brought it to school and ran it on his computer, which at that time was a Mac Classic II. As soon as we ran it, sure enough, the vowels were disabled on the keyboard. We went to our classes and by the time we got to computer class, which was later on in the day, that poor Classic II was in pieces all over the desk. I asked him what was wrong with the computer, and he just said "Its sick" in a sarcastic tone. I should also note that anyone wanting to play with the "No Vowels" program should know that there is indeed a "Yes Vowels" program which restores the computer back to the way it is normally. So far, this is the only computer prank I've been a part of. :ninja:
naap51stang
My favorite is to go into mouse properties, do the alignment thingy, BUT, invert the mouse UPSIDE DOWN when you do it. Then sit back and watch people try to figure out why when they move the mouse up, it goes down, right is left and left is right. The other one.....(I'm a retired 911 dispatcher)....when it was really slow, we'd wait til someone took a break, and we'd switch the keyboards. Our setup has two identical workstations, one with a 17" LCD, the other with two 17" LCD's. The keyboards are identical. Swap them, or the mouses around and wait for the victim to return. The last one, doesn't work as well as it did in the early 90's when things were first becoming computerized. At the time, none of the dispatchers had home computers, and quite frankly, were afraid of them. I would set the screen saver to activate only after an hour of non use (which means at a 911 center, it wouldn't kick in until way after midnight). I'd use the marquie thingy and make it say this: "All data has been deleted from drive C:/ please shutdown and reinstall all software" This one always got a hoot. Forgot about another one........I would wait until the fire dispatcher got a call for service (you DON'T do this to the PD side, they are too busy). Then I would open a cmd prompt and send a netsend message to the fire dispatcher that would say that a system error had occurred and the system needed to be restarted....LOL, the words some of the fire dispatchers would say. I don't know why when I worked there, everyone would ALWAYS make sure their stations were logged off if they left them for a few seconds. (which is what they should do anyway). I was always pulling pranks of some kind. You have to, or you'd go nuts after an 8 hour shift sitting listening to the stupid things people do. :alien: :alien: Edited June 4, 2004 by naap51stang
Veiva
I made a quick program in C that displayed a fake BSOD.. After I made it I set the screensaver for the logon to 1 min... After, I replaced the logon screensaver with the program. Lets say, he was mad for a while. Veiva
