Or maybe the friend was a dog and unable to unlock the doors.

Egar Allen Poe?

Damn, that was fast!

Next:

The landlord from an apartment complex was getting calls about a leaky ceiling. The landlord goes to the unit directly above the one that was leaking, opens the door, and finds a soaking wet carpet. He also finds a man who'd hung himself. It was an obvious suicide. The problem is, from the point in the room, it is impossible to hang yourself. How'd he do it?

he didn't hang himself, he slipped on the water on the floor and slammed his throat onto the table in front of him, it broke his windpipe and he died.

He stood on an ice block and as it melted he slowly hung himself.

He accidently shot someone and then turned the gun on himself? Do you really want me to stop playing your little game here or was that just rhetorical?

He was standing on a small asteroid and tried to shoot an alien, but missed. The bullet then shot around the entire surface and hit him in the back.

Now that's thinking outside of the box. If that isn't the answer it could have been.

The first answer was crap. It has no link to the question, other than that it was the given answer. It's just a totaly random situation that could only ever have been worked out by guesswork.

The rest are good. :)

Why are 1987 bottles of Whiskey more expensive than 1945 bottles?

Do we really have to answer this one? Not really lateral thinking as much as just thinking.

He was hunting birds and fired directly up and the projectile came straight down and killed him.

Apparently so, according to this:

http://rinkworks.com/brainfood/s/wl.8.shtml :p

How about this one - gets you thinking, and can actually be worked out, unlike the rest so far:

You are trapped in a room with 2 guards and 2 doors, one door leads to certain death one door leads to freedom. You is allowed to ask one question of either guard, but one guard always lies, and one guard always tells the truth. You do not know which guard is which, or which door is which.

What single question can you ask of a guard to ensure you leave through the right door?

the question would be: what would the other guard tell me if i ask him if this is the door to freedom?

if it is a no...then get that door...if it is a yes then go on the other one

NEXT: (NOT FROM THAT SITE)
