jkinzer
Not sure what AS means, but I feel your pain. I am in college and had a computer science final (Compilers) this morning and a Physics for Engineers final tonight. Tomorrow I have a gangster film final. :) And Thurs I have another computer science final (Operating Systems). I will be so glad to be done on Thursday. Ok. Done with Physics, but my butt and back hurts a bit from bending over and taking it in the rear. :x
nuka_t
so think of it like this7-11 : Highschool / GCSE / Secondary School basically 11-13 : College / 6th Form>> AS Levels are the first year exams (e.g. 11-12 - you are aged 16-17) A2 Levels are your 2nd year exams (e.g. 12-13 - you are aged 17-18) :) can you take AS exams while still in high school? in the US you can take college classes in highschool and take the exam and get college credit for em. Varsity
Nah, it's easy. It's almost entierly logic. There won't be more than a handful of questions on facts you actually have to learn. ;)
S.MULLA
can you take AS exams while still in high school?in the US you can take college classes in highschool and take the exam and get college credit for em. you have levels of qualifitcations you have to do before you can do the next eg: first u have SATS (this is basically here to show your understanding of the basic english, maths and science topics, from the results from these resutls you are accordingly placed into sets for GCSE's - the age for SATS is 13-14) from completing the sats you then have GCSE's- these is a basic 2 years of studying - ranges from ages 15-17 - this is the countries required education for all students. upon compelting these exams you then do AS level students who do not want to study can leave education and work or be a "bum" on the streets. A levels were stopped few years ago to introduce AS level. Main reason was becuase A levels were very hard, and alot of studying to do. So they introduced these AS levels; half as hard as the A levels, but you have a large selection of topics/subjects to study. These AS levels are the key to universities, wihtout these you cant enter university. depending on the results you get, ie A,B,C,D,E,N,U you get points awarded accordingly ie A = 10 points B= 6 C= 4 etc (not sure about the AS point scoring system), the higher the points the more presentable you are when applying to uni. GNVQ's are for those students who cant cut teh work at AS levels, so do a basic course (you can get into uni with these qualifications but not onto very good courses) After all this..!! comes university itself.. wihich is broken down into : HND(2years),BSC(3years),BSc sandwhich(3years with years placement)MCsi(4 years),PHD (6years)etc.... i hope you understand now.. :pinch:

Guest
No, you've got it wrong :p They didnt stop A Levels. You do AS Levels in the first year of college, which counts for HALF of your overall A2 level.

Bubbo
I had the edexcell papers and they weren't bad at all. They just seemed to ignore all the complex stuff we'd been told to learn like the names of the bacteria in the nitrogen cycle, it all seemed to be very basic.
