Scazza
Hey Guys Was recommended this site by a mate who has bought from it before. Its a massive online classifieds and they have a magazine too, now I have contected the seller who is selling the item and he has told me everything I need to know. So here is low down. He is selling a iBook 12" G4 1GHz Boxed Brand New and he said he will except ?620 for it, so I am like great I am definatly going to get this. So I tell me folks and they are abit sceptic about it, so I asked him the following the questions and here are his answers: [bWhere Did You Buy It From Originally?>[/b]> He said: " He gets them in from wholesale and buys them in bulks and this is why he is selling it for that price. He Said: "I can pay him by PayPal, which is good so i have the protection from them if then he doesnt send the item, i got the protection from PayPal. As its boxed and brand new, if anything oges wrong with I can just send it back to Apple and they will sort it. Now he has offered to me that I can come and pick it from his house, I have got his address and everything but I live too far away, its like a 4 hour drive away. So thats out of the question, so he lives 10 minutes away from West Hams Footy Ground and one of me mates lives 30 mins away from there and he has offered to go and pick it up for me on Saturday if I aint sure bout it. All I have to do is try to get it around to my folks that he aint ripping me off or scamming, he said he will even give me a copy of Office Mac with it too. He sounds a geniune guy selling this and when I rung him this mornig I woke him up and he was fine about it as most people would be like ring me back later or something. Also most scmamers dont offer the buyer to come over and colect it or veiw or even give their address out. So what do you guys think about it? Does this offer sound too good to be true?? ctebah
nope, if you're picking it up and all. unless the powerbook is stolen.
forster
Looks alright to me - although I would recommend that you get the laptop back to the seller for Apple to sort and he gives you the money back.
Scazza
nope, if you're picking it up and all. unless the powerbook is stolen. thats what I said, and its an iBook not a powerbook. I tried telling me folks that he wouldnt of given me his address and asked me to come and collect it and veiw it if I wanted to it just wouldnt happen. So I am gonna negotiate with me dad when he gets back soon as this is a really good price :D

Scazza
I say go with it Scazza, as long as you can get your parents on-side. indeed i am gonna but its gonna be abit a tricky to get me folks on me side as my dad was nearly scammed on eBay but luckily i got there and stopped him sending any money. So that has opened there eyes and now know doubt they will think most things are scams now LoL so i am gonna try and persuade me dad wen he gets back from Exeter soon. Mike
get your mate who lives near him/her to check the address out, eg if its in a run down area it could be stolen. if he's selling more than one you could get your mate to pretend to be interested in buying one and ask to see it first. then get him to report back on it :)
clonk
Is the 4 hour drive thing out of the question because you do not have a car of your own or what? Because for the deal you are getting taking an afternoon and driving off to get it wouldn't be that bad. Besides then you do know 100% that it is all legit. 8 hours total driving time to be guarenteed that 620 pounds is not wasted is worth it to me. Besides, it could be the only way you get your parents to agree that to it.

Scazza
Some of you may have seen my post/s about getting this iBook and my parents thinking its a dodgey deal. So I have created this petition for people to sign who think its not a dodgey deal. Here is the link Sign The Petition So please say why you think it isnt a dodgey deal in the comments box and once I get enough I will show my parents and this is bound to convince them. If you dont know the story it is there for you to read on the petition. Many Thanks Scazza

ozgeek
I agree with your parents. It sounds to me like scam. I was about to buy a pc from someone here but found out in a MSN chat that he had put pirated software on it. I backed out- no money lost. So take notice of dev's post.
