+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted June 8, 2004 Subscriber² Share Posted June 8, 2004 Agreed, it is an inneficieny in our design ;) I used to take "Trilludan Forte", they were like massive strength anti-histamine tablets. Unfortunately they were removed, as they were related to a few people dieing or something :( Nothing else ever seems to come close to helping me. :(

ozgeek
Glad I live in Australia and not UK. That must hurt. When I was on camp, one of the girls woke up with itchy eyes, and turned out that she had hayfever so she went home. I can imagine you in your pain. I had a look at this : http://www.medinfo.co.uk/conditions/hayfever.html and there are some treatment and preventation steps which you might like to try. :)

FiREFLi
I have clarytin, some nazel spray and eye drops. The nazel spray for before bed so i wake up breathing, as opposed to dead, yes. Eye drops are good, well, they have *some* effect. And the clarytin (tablets) are one a day tihngs but I tihnk they have to be taken every day to sort of build up a resistance as opposed to just taking them occasionally and hoping it has an effect. Is that why your tablets don't work? Are you tkaing one a day regardless of how you feel that day? :)

Keito
Well, a friend of mine has hayfever very strongly (is that correct grammar-wise?) and he uses all kinds of stuff, mostly 3 things at once. I don't know how they're all called but it seems to work for him. I don't have it that much and I mainly stay inside the house with everything closed and such. And if I HAVE to go out some tablets called Allerfree help me out, but it seems that you need something stronger. You should consider going to your doctor and ask for some allergy test so they can isolatie what you exactly suffer of (which pollen and stuff) and then they can give you sepcial tablets and so on... Helped for one of my other friends :p
Naruco
I've had hayfever since I was 7... I'm 21 now... and as usual it's been becoming a pain over the last few weeks or so... I hate using the nazel sprays and eye drops now, so just stick with the tablets... The nazel sprays are dreadful; there was only one I used, probably about 10 years ago now, that I thought was great and then they changed it again... With tablets, Clarytyn is the best I've used, however, doctors dont prescribe this anymore... it's now Neo-Clarytyn. I've tried some of the ones you can get at a Pharmacy, the ones they advertise on TV (that work in 15mins) are very good I've found.... some other tablets are useless. I'd agree about the orange juice theory! Vit C is extremly good for you and does help ease things off...
threetonesun
I drink soda like it's water in the late spring early summer months, caffeine tends to help fight off hay fever for me, although I've read that the opposite, it actually makes it worse, is true. Alex_is_Axel
im going to see the Dr when i can, hopefully tomorrow about it and be able to get something that helps me in the mean time, is there anything i can use that you could recommend. Ive put vasaline up my nose which aparently catches the pollen before it actually goes up :) but it doesnt always help me Is there anything else i could try? Thanx everyone, i was feelin down before but you've cheered me up :)

Hum
does that really work? :) Yes indeed. OJ boosts your immune system, hypnosis gets to the root of the problem and beliefs.

QuantumTrickery
I used to have all sorts of bad problems with allergies when the spring and summer months popped around. I tried everything i could think of where allergy medicine was concerned, including some prescription items. Nothing worked. A friend of mine mentioned the best way to cure the problem: Eating local honey, and lots of it. Apparently because of the local pollens and such that get into the honey through the process of bees making it, your body builds an immunity to the local irritants over time. For me I started early one spring, and by late summer my allergies no longer have any effect on me. Now I just eat a little honey now and then (in tea, in some types of food) and it keeps the tolerances up.

Alex_is_Axel
thats an interesting idea to try but i mean i would of thought the body would of got imune to the pollen in the first place because of how long we/i have had it. People have had it for years, you would of thought that the body would of clocked on to some form of imunity for it  i got a Dr's appointment in about 40mins time about my hayfever so ill let you know what he says about it all :)

I saw a website before saying that hayfever affects only 16% of the population, i sumhow dont believe that, i see many people with this problem :( But it hurts so much! :(
Keldyn
I'm a chronic hayfever sufferer also. It is just too cruel. Three months of feeling miserable, each and every year.
