Cracking through the WinXP login...

Here's another solution: use the Group Policy Editor to totally lock down the system. Make it impossible for the kid to do most things apart from surf the net. You can do the following:

- prevent use of RegEdit

- hide all the hard drives and floppy drives

- prevent all the IE settings being changed. This means that the kid can't delete the Temporary Internet files when he's been surfin' porn.

- stop MSN Messenger from being run

- remove the "Run" option from the Start Menu

and so on and so on. There are literally dozens of things you can turn off.

You can run the GPE by going to Start>Run and typing in "gpedit.msc". The settings are mainly in the "User administration>Administrative Templates" tab.

And whilst you're at it, go into the "Computer Configuration>Windows Settings>Security Settings>Account Policies>Password Policy" section and change the password settings.

First I'd throw the kid a beating, brooklyn style.....he got it comin.

Next I'd somehow get him to boot camp on rikers island in nyc.

Lets see how he handles gladiator school.

Realistically, as many have already stated the problem trancends unauthorized use of a computer and larceny. He a baby and if not dealt with now will manifest it in worse behavior later. I know, that was me at 15, if I got some help then maybe I wouldnt of spent 4 years fed time, 2 years state time and a year on rikers island back to back. Rich_G:bandit:

ive followed this post from the beggining -and theres be two genres of answer. one- beat the **** out of the kid. The other, a useful - if not completely practical answer - is based around hardware responses.

seriously - answering violence with violence is just not an option. I think he needs a good talking to - he needs a dominant figure in his life- some to look to wards, some one to respect. I doubt he has that- is his father a lamer?!!

Tech wise- the options are many. I personally recon on a cause of action like so.

Complete computer lockdown. Dont even create an account for him : admin account with a strong password, and one other account for her.

Not the best but works pretty good. I would just drag blank screensaver to start menu then set password.

Err, if you boot in safe mode it still boots? Are you sure about that? Also there's always pressing ctrl while booting to bypass all startup items.

Anyways, on with the topic. Man, this kid has big problems. I think the most important thing is not about the damn computer access. I think it's how he is thinking. Man, he's totally messed up, can you imagine molesting a girl? 15 year of age even! That's totalyly unforgivable. Not only is he ruining his own life, he probably caused permanent damage to that poor little girl.

I think the parents shuold really just send him away somewhere... boot camp of some sort. I had couple friends that went totally bad and I still remember what their parents did. While they were sleeping, people came, bagged their ass, and flew them to another state. (I heard beating is allowed in those places?)

Well, sometimes the camp helps, sometimes it don't. But I guess if it still don't, let him f*ck himself then.

Shoot, if my kid stole credit card numbers from me, I would certainly take the matter seriously and put down whatever I am doing to correct his thoughts. I think the mom and step-father gotta know their priorities.

By the way, there was a lot of suggestions given to how to lock computer using software... well, I can tell you that all those are hackable of sorts. At least I can manage to. Even the BIOS password can be bypassed easily without pulling the jumpers. Bet some of you didn't know there's universal password for BIOS :D Also, there's a way to reset the BIOS' password without having to pull the jumper too.

And as for taking parts of the computer... well, that's just kind of stupid. Like someone pointed out, he might be motivated to steal from a store, etc to get that keyboard or something.

The bottom line of my long post: shape this kid's head correctly before he does some dumb sh!t that will affect other people's life.

(F*ck, if all else fails, hang his ass)

I definately agree that they need to get their priorities straight... and I'm hoping one day they will. They're not really that bad of people... but in the child raising dept, they might need a little help. They have 2 other kids... one 5 and one 2 that copy what he does to a point... as in when he swings at his parents or talks back... now the 5 yr old does. Well, doesn't now... he started to, but after about a week of spankings and being sent to his room, he's decided he shouldn't mouth off. And since he quit... so did the littlest one. The only one still doing it is the 15 yr old. They *do* have a place to send him and I for one have ben telling them to do it. His grandfather wants him to live with him. Now that doesn't *seem* like a punishment... bu his grandfather is the epitome of the Hell's Angel biker. About 6' 4"... long scraggly beard, tattoos, about 2 big Harleys, a Rottwiler... get's into brawls all the time... BUT he is very dissapointed with the kid. As it s now, if he fail to graduate, he'll be the first one in the family to do it. And he doesn't like that... and he's also upset about the stealing, lying, the usual. So him and his biker friends want him to come down and *they* raise him for the next few years. And yeah, they'll really kick his ass if he does anything there. I met the guy... if you're good, he's a cool guy, but if you're not... you better just run away. lol I saw the guy rip a tooth from his own head once without flinching. haha And it was real... he decided a dentist didn't need to do it, he went out, grabbed pliars and just riped the thing out and threw it away. haha But as it is now, the kid's parents are almost positive they're gonna do it but not 100% sure.

Yah, I want to clarify something. I didn't mean what you think I implied. I don't necessary think the parents are bad. It could be very much the kid's own natural behavior. Perhaps something trigger the wrong nerve in his head or something.

Of course, the parents still holds some responsibilty even if that was the case though...

About what you said, this Grandpa dude, well, I think... judging by how old the mom is (approx 30?) he shouldn't be too old. And I think it's a good idea. Sometimes, it takes something different to straighten certain things/people out. Who knows, maybe one day he may actually be a great person instead of the awful/lying sob/molester/thief/(and anything not mentioned) he is right now.

Although implementing physical and security changes is important, the comments already directed to the real problem - the kid seem important.

Here's a recommendation to help fix his problem if his parents understand that a parental response is more appropriate and important than playing a "security fixit game": make him work and pay back all the stuff he has stolen.

Once he works and sees the value of his efforts and how long it takes him to pay back for his stealing and irresponsibility, he will probably have a new outlook on stealing money and credit to view pictures.

He should also loose privileges for stealing and using others personal credit cards, like time using the PC, playing video or PC games, watching TV, buying and using any videos, games, CD's and/or many other things that might contribute to his current mentality of irresponsibility.

I agree with your outlook. Perhaps he should realize the responsibilty of his actions and by doing (working to make money) perhaps he will resolve his mental status because of new experiences he will experience once he starts to work.

hahaha I assure you he's not. lol He's as real as anyone... here's his homepage http://www.geocities.com/solidus_MGS2SOL/GOP.html. If you want to see something funny, check out the members section... all 3 of the e-mail addresses are his... or were his in the past. haha But to be honest... if I had heard about him without witnessing it all... I wouldn't have thought he was real either. lol :D

EDIT-- My girlfriend (who also knows the kid) wanted me to rag on you about your comment. She said it was very stupid and you should think before you write. *I* however didn't think I should. So she wanted me to at least tell you she wanted to. To let you know, she's not a member... was just reading what I was. lol hahaha She also wanted me to include that his step father isn't the most angelic man there is either. lol (She hates him!) He uses the comp for games (and we suspect pron... but can't catch him at it... lol He clears the temps and everything regularly. lol) So now that I said all that, I can live in peace... I hope. HAHAHAHAHA

whats wrong with pr0n and games?..its like sex and candy! just like that song. mmm mmm good.

by the sound of it..i wouldnt want to know the kid. but really..why ARE we talking about the kid? (im still on page 3 reading, so i hope by page 5 y'all get off this topic) I thought the point of this thread was to solve the password issue.

if the kid like the computer so much, why not get him a ****ty little pII 233, im sure its not more than 500$ now? a little 14'' monitor, 10$ keyboard, and 5$mousy.

then the kid wont be roaming around on her moms computer where all the precious info.

get him a 56k, or 28k modem. (dont think they make 14ks anymore, but i could be wrong). and get him some free internet access (with limited internet time).

then he can play games and go for pr0n all he wants on his own time.

next step..get him some help with all the time he's spending on the computer and not the streets.

good luck to you all

/edit better idea..get a mac..macs are useless:P :p :p

Well, as weird as it is, they *did* bring him home a mac yesterday (sorta)... it has no floppy drive, no network card, less than half as fast as the rest of the systems there, and, well... is a mac. :p lol It was for his dad's work but they told him that he can use it for whatever he needs with their supervision. haha From what I hear he wasn't too pleased and refused it. lol As far as why we keep talking about him... I dunno. :D lol As far as the rest of it goes... it is an interresting subject all the way around, methinks. And as far as my gf wanting to put that in there... she just really doesn't like them. lol I'm sure I know why, but she'd never admit it. lol haha
