This Is Scary

Their position was that smaller weapons have a deterrent role because rogue nations or terrorists might not believe that the United States would use more destructive multi-kiloton weapons, the Times reported.

hmm.. am I stupid or is America the only country until now to use weapons of mass destruction in a conflict? (Hiroshima, Nagasaki - 1945)

Wow. That is... well... I can't put into words. Somewhat wierd.. somewhat odd.. somewhat scary. Sort of a mixed feeling. By using those weapons, it can shorten the conflicts but it can have devastating effects. I think more sources would be needed for me to totally believe it.

Yeah I read the article in the newspaper today. Scary? You bet. Basically what it comes down to is MADD - Mutually Assured Destruction - I can't rememeber the exact acronym. It means, in simple terms that since the US has/could have so many nuclear weapons targeted at individual countries that they would never try to attack the states and the US would never attack it since millions of lives would be lost.

Its some big theory only few people really understand fully. When the atomic bombs were dropped, I guess the US/world realised they could never be dropped again on a country and so came about MADD. Since you can't "uninvent" (I know I just made the word up :D) nuclear weapon stockpiling and targeting at other countries is supposed to prevent further nuclear war. I HOPE whoever made this theory up is right.

Dazzla, I hope you didn't mean offense to this statement. I don't know where this expression came from but I wish it were eliminated; besides, it makes no sense. I'm French Canadian and I can tell you that the French don't have an expression saying "excuse my English when they curse". Try to get rid of using it. Please.

Kareemah: I could delete your troll comment but want to know why America wonders why they have planes flying into the sides of buildings.

Without sounding stupid, I'm sure every American would like to know why people would fly an Air liner into the side of a building. No country deserves that treatment.

and I wish people would also remember that the building that got hit and brought down was of INTERNATIONAL intrest. alot of nationalities died that day. Yes it took place in America and they were the target but WORLD trade center has an international ring to it dont you think?

i think he meant more toward the fact that most of the middle east hates america for things that they have done or haven't done.

I don't see what the point in getting all upset about dazzla saying "excuse my french" millions of people the world over use the saying and you shouldn't be getting offended by it since your not french anyways, your canadian.
