orestes
Ok.. I'm installing ATI 3.9.0 drivers for my 9800xt in Mandrake 10. Downloaded the proper one for my version of XFree and ran the rpm. I got this msg: Tailored kernel module for fglrx not present in your system. You must go to /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod subdir and execute './make.sh' to build a fully customed kernel module. Afterwards go to /lib/modules/fglrx and run './make_install.sh' in order to install the module into your kernel's module repository. When i goto that first sub dir as root and issue the cmd ./make.sh it returns the error 'bash: ./make.sh: Permission denied' kinda new to this last time i used linux i had a Nvidia card and it went fine on the install. What am i doing wrong?
Sav
if you do a "ls -l" in that dir, what's the name it gave you on the left?

markwolfe Veteran Posted June 12, 2004 Veteran Share Posted June 12, 2004 Are you root? Also, the app seems to want to compile the module for you. Make sure your sources are installed.
Sav
I can see that even root have only the right to read.

Sav
To give to root the possibility to execute a file you must give (at least) the file the following chmod: "chmod 511" always think that: 1-Read 2-Write 4-Execute and a combination of the above will give you the rest (3, 5, 6 and 7)

Sav
Download and install the RPM call "kernel-source...", make suer you match the source with the one install.

If you have just installed from the CD and have not upgraded your kernel yet, they are on the CD, and you can add them through Mandrake's package manager. Also, sorry on missing the executeable attribute thing... :pinch:
