aldo
I thought it would be great if we could have a monthly (maybe fortnightly) system build guides which would have a specific price point (ie: $1000, $1500 and $2000) and users suggested the best configs with links to the places they got the prices from. Sharkeyextreme.com does a very similar thing but they are always a bit slow on publishing them. Also, if we could have a UK version with only UK shops and in UK currency (?) then the many UK-ers on the board could enjoy. Other international variants could be a possiblity too. What does everyone think of this idea?:))
Max Veteran Posted June 12, 2004 Veteran Share Posted June 12, 2004 I personally think its great! I would be willing to put up system build guides, as money posts these days are about "which is best" etc. In fact, im going to work on one right now.... aldo
Exactly. There is many people who want to know the best system and this would be a great way to do this :). I'll start on one too - hopeuflly we can have some Americans getting on with one :).

I can write guides but I will be more detailed if I was to write specifically about Intel/ATI.

aldo
I'd probably be more comfortable with AMD/ATi. I'll give it a shot. PS: I feel this thread is better suited to Hardware Hangout since it's all about hardware. The only site and forum issue was the idea to brand it as neowin. Oh well... it's gonna get a lot less exposure now too :(
DsnBehind
Sharkeyextreme.com does a very similar thing but they are always a bit slow on publishing them. AnandTech does them monthly.
SOOPAH256
cool. i never knew they had anything like this. thanks for the info ;) but anyway, if we had it here @ neowin, i think that'd be even better. i really love coming to neowin for all (if not, most) my tech questions and needs. bigrlittlealex
That a great idea. I'll start it. Here's a link: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=19&t=177350
aldo
AnandTech does them monthly. Really? I didn't know about that. Thanks (I can only keep track of so many hardware sites ;)). Also, thanks for starting it :)
aldo
Ugh I take that back. You've managed to totally ruin the concept I had. I'll give a good think to the rules and layout of the thread then post it up.

I'll give a good think to the rules and layout of the thread then post it up. How did I screw it up. I only tried to limit the architecture b/c i figured it would be too many systems to keep track of. What can you expect. I mean I tried. Anyway, hopefully people will get on the bandwagon and start posting more configs. I already got one.
