Gmail's Reporting Stage is over now

Recommended Posts

Hmmm... On my Gmail account, It appears that the "Report a Bug" feature link is not there anymore, It seems that The Reporting a bug stage is over now, this might be a hint that Gmail Maybe possibly be released this comming next week or at the very end of this month, not to sure..

What do you all think? Notice any bugs still or appearance problems or suggestions? And along with them sending out all these invites to people...

I think it will always remain invite only. Look at the buzz it's generated. Plus, it also keeps people from opening throw-away accounts they will never use.

That happens in every online e-mail service.

I do believe he means when its released for public Registering, when people just want to check the service out to see if they like it or not, they would register for a account and if they didnt like it or just dont care then they be wasting that account when someone else could put it to use..

They are still adding features.

While Gmail does not currently support this functionality, we are working

on many new features to improve the Gmail service. You might be interested

to hear that we are working on the following:

- Automatic forwarding of your email to another account

- Plain HTML version of Gmail

- Import/export Contacts

We hope you enjoy Google's approach to email.

Sincerely,

The Gmail Team

What does? invite only stage?

I meant that people sign up for accounts that they never use. We probably have quite a few of those here at Neowin.

I think invite only would be very cool (and I don't have an invite yet!) :). This would make it an exclusive service. Also, it would mean that throw-away accounts would be much less and therefore there would be no need to have an inactivity thing (like.. don't sign in for x days and your account is suspended).

But, hopefully this is just one of the many portal-like features Google has... I love the idea of Google keeping the front page as clean as it is now, but having loads of great portal-like feautres like Mail etc.

it was there very shortly, they changed they mind, probaly error reports coming from it were from stupid people, error reporting is still available in help-> feedback,

they have annoucned other features (someone else pasted the email), anyways they just decided that the "report a bug" link didn't give them any valueable info, that wasn't already coming in though help>feedback

I don't think Gmail will stay as an invite-only service since Google already announced that it'll be a free-for-all service after BETA testing. I'm sure the spams will start coming in after it opens. :(
