Microsoft Piracy

Recommended Posts

I worked there for one day because a lot of the things he was saying including talking about the software piracy thing really threw up red flags saying this guy was a pretty crooked guy. I was hired, I even filled out the W-4. But the final HUGE red flag, was when he said, Sometimes I might ask you to hold off on cashing your paycheck for a few days until I get the money. Everytime I repeated that phrase to anybody I knew, they looked like they were in shock, everybody told me to stay away. Even my parents told me just to quit, and my parents REALLY wanted me to have a computer job. I wouldnt exactly call it "revenge" but when i called him and asked for my paycheck for the hours I did work, he wouldnt give it to me. Thats a clear violation of the law, not giving me my paycheck for working and for pirating software. Thats why I called Microsoft and thats why I'm filling out a "Claim for Wages" with the state of Kansas.

I hope you win.

When they say you have to wait for your paycheck, that means you ain't going to get paid, or are going to get gyped out of paychecks from time to time. What a crook.

Update: I just mailed a "Claim for Wages" form to the state of Kansas. If Microsoft isn't too much for him, I hope Kansas will give him a good lesson.

True, but they are PROFITING from it. Then again, it's wrong either way....

Hmm....and Microsoft doesn't do the same? Predatory pricing and monopoly abuse comes to mind. Don't get me wrong, I don't think its right for the shop to be doing this.

Kinda lame dobing your boss in, if he was willing to enploy you. But I see your point if it was some kinda mass piracy going on.

Was he charging people for the XP ? and supplying the disk? have Microsoft done anything yet?

It doesn't count if he doesn't pay you. Especially if he's the type of person that rips you off.
