Hogwashy
Im 19 now, i wish my parents got me braces when i was younger, but they didnt anyway, whats are modern methods available to fix teeth? I need braces that arent easily seen.. as im a bit too old lol. are there such things as 'back braces' that fit behind, and not in front of your teeth? what about surgical methods? what can i expect to pay for braces? oik
what about those clear ones? i hear they're expensive because you have to get different sets; they can't be tightened like the wire ones. i'll probably need braces one day too. my dentist (when i was a kid) swore to me and my parents that when my teeth came in more, they would even out and look fine. they don't, but whatever. Shifty
depending on where you live, (im in USA), you could get these clear plastic inserters that mold to your teeth. every few weeks you change to another mold that is slightly corrected, thus your teeth slowly move to the correct position. i hear its much better than getting braces and having them tightened every 2 weeks. the best part of it is is that you can take them out to eat and brush, try doing that w/ regular braces!! the only bad part about them is that they are somewhat uncomfortable when you first use them and you (sometimes) will have to keep them in longer than braces to straighten out your teeth. as for pricing, depending on how bad your teeth are, it can be cheaper than braces, for my brother who had them it turned out to be a tab bit more expensive that real braces. my brother opted to get the plastic inserts and he had some trouble with them, he kept forgetting to put them back in!! after a while he got used to it and it became second nature. its like contact lenses, at first you hate them, but after a while you get used to them. An easier, cheaper and more initially painful way is to have someone punch your teeth straight!! j/k!!

Verbose.
Invisalign, I've seen ads on this... probably really expensive but, then again, so are metal braces phew. This reminds me, I get my braces off in a few days or so, I've had these stupid things on for ~4 years and haven't been cooperative. Oral hygiene is something I don't concern myself over as much as I should 1337.
aem4162
you're never too old for braces. save some money and get the traditional braces. they won't be on forever and if ya get rubberbands you can shoot them at people.

Drexthepimp
OK if they are really fubarred, then you will have to go with the metal ones. They are the only really working ones, but are very grusome on the mouth...cut mouth, salava etc. No women find them attractive though. Self confidence takes a huge knock, but you could rebound from that. Invent something better, or get self confidence with what you have. If they suggest a short stint in head gear then that isn't good, look into getting a loan and see what the movie stars get done. They definitely don't wear braces for months. Good luck bud. Remember it takes courage, and if you get asked to read in class refuse point blank!

Liquid
my moms an orthodontist and she does not recommend invisalign as they are very expensive and dont work well at all. Normal braces are the only way to go.
clonk
I was 19 when I got my braces on, and let me say, I was at first worried that people would notice and I would look like a looser, but seriously, no one gives a crap about them. I have never had a person look at me wierd or say anything about them. I think they are a societial norm now, just like glasses. The extent of correction you need will determine the method needed. Visit a good local orthodontist, he will be able to tell you right away what options are avialible to you. Alot of the 'too good to be true' teeth correction methods, like the invisalign and behind braces, will only work on cases where the correction needed is minor. todd
If you do get normal braces, wear your retainer afterward its done (if you get one).. I regret not putting mine in :| I may need braces again, but my teeth arent as bad this time around, so i may look into invisalign when im older (maybe theyll be cheaper/better)
