some make the opera ad block to collapse the ads like AdBlock does with FireFox

this way the website looks way more clean w/o white holes

Yes.. that's how I have my opera setup. Just setup it to use the user.css stylesheet and put some adblocking in there. Works awesome.

lol pc world did not even bother to test the 7.51 version. firefox is just 4.5 mb, it is extremely reliable though it is beta and most importantly it is free.

sorry to have offended you with my simple observations. i'll try to write in a more pleasing tone, so as to avoid irritating firefox fanboys who always visit opera threads to brag about a 0.9 browser ;)

now, please allow me to address your eloquently put comments one by one:

- you do have to restart, which is not the case when installing, say, themes or toolbars in opera.

- they are indeed buggy, in my experience.

- installing them is more of a pain than installing themes, toolbars, buttons, etc. in opera, as mentioned.

- auto update i am sure is very nice, if only they worked as well as opera in the first place.

- they do clutter the interface, since they put themselves all over the place.

- most of the useful ones do mimic opera. if you read various mozilla forums you'll see that what most people seem to want is extensions that are features that already exist in opera.

as for opinions, i will continue to have mine. it is a fact that you have to restart firefox when you install stuff like extensions, which is not the case with opera. you can install a completely new user interface in opera with a couple of clicks and no restart. same with themes/skins.

and opera does lead the way in features. where do you think mdi (windows inside a main window) in browsers, mouse gestures, sessions, quick search, etc. came from? opera.

i will concede on one point, and that is that firefox extensions can give you capabilities that are not in opera, but there are just a couple of problems:

1. opera is an integrated product, and everything works together seamlessly. not so with firefox, since different extension writers have different goals.

2. it is a pain to find a decent extension that actually works as i expect it to. so rather than having to wade through potentially thousands of extensions just to get something which is basic functionality in opera, it is more convenient for me to just use opera. why use stuff which tries to emulate opera when i can use the real thing?

I would prefer to get Opera features free by extensions instead of paying for Opera. They are in fact quite reliable, IMO

i love my opera, been using opera since v. 5 and never looked at anything else. I did however try firefox for about a month, and did not like it one bit. I did try many of the extensions and many of the features, also tried doing nightlies, but alot of the things in it were already integrated into opera. I guess i feel the same way as d_ralphie does, why bother with firefox just because is free, when opera is completely hassle free, i hardly have time to tinker with firefox anyways so i just decided to go with was best rite now and that is Opera.

I'll keep Firefox which is far superior and easier to use

just rightclic and thats it

For each ad.

With opera, this takes under a minute and you're set. It's your fault if it did not work, not operas.

I left instructions for you in another thread. Be sure you followed them carefully.
