P2P in the UK

Recommended Posts

I have asked this before, but this was a little while ago. But, can we get fined or anything for using P2P in the UK? I thought they were going to start to do something about it, but I haven't heard anything in ages.

Any ideas?

You can if you know people who have it, and you let them join your private, fully encrypted P2P WASTE network.

(WASTE isn't good for anonymous P2P file sharing. You wouldn't want to let just anybody join your WASTE network.)

So waste basically lets you connect with a group of friends and share files? A mini P2P network. That would be good, just I have like 10 times the amount of music as my friends, and all the music they have was sent to them by me! - most of it is ligit though, I spent hours burning CDs to my hard drive that I borrowed.

I might look into waste.

I am from the UK the US RIAA can't sue us but the UK Music industry BPI can there are hoping to change the law and are targeting users of P2P but not done any court action as there have not been many online sevices there giving us what the call a grace period to change but with the launch of legal sites Napster, Itunes (this week) and others coming our way it will not be long!
