How To Get a Job at Fast Food?

Recommended Posts

I'm in high school so I'd like a part time summer job. The only thing I can really think of is fast food. But I'm not sure how to go about doing that. Do I pick up applications at the restaurants, and mail it to them or something? That takes way too long. Is it awkward to just go in and ask if they're hiring?

How did/would you go about doing it?

Thanks.

if the cashier doesn't know, they will get a manager.. but most employee's will know where the applications are.. they will give it to you.. you go home, fill it out, bring it back, and hopefully they call you

Should I ask for the manager? I don't think some random cashier would know.

Rule #1 for all job applications in the future: Mailed applications/resumes tend to end up in the garbage. Ditto for faxed ones as well. If you can't be bothered to personally turn it in and shake the manager's hand (absolute MUST DO, learn how to do it right) then many won't be bothered to look over your application.

Indeed. This very much applies for those that think that can get away with writing one cover letter (for bigger jobs, not fastfood) and changing the address field for those hundred of propspective companies you're thinking of spamming for a job. They have proper channels thru which you can make applications so if they get something that comes thru somewhere else then it just gets filtered.

Put in some proper effort and you stand a much better chance of getting that job. Simple :)

It was meant as a tip for the future, good habits start early.

I wowed Subway with my ability to accurately subtract change from a purchase... So as long as you are breathing and they are hiring, I am sure you'll get a job.

id kill to work in subway, had a sub today.. yum. if it wasnt for my allergy to getting up before 4pm id be all over a job.

It was pretty cool at the time. I got a free 6 inch sub of whatever I wanted for every 4 hours worked. I always managed to swing a few more for *free* ;)

That's what I'm afraid of...

in all fairness theres no reason to be afraid, its only an application. you either get it or you dont and if you dont then no loss, at least you tried. right?

Well it's not really being afraid. It's more of being dissapointed. I know I'm better than most fast food workers, and it would suck if some lazy bum gets it instead of me.

I might call up a few Employment Agencies to see if they have anything better. But there's a ton of agencies... how am I suppose to know which ones are good?

Just go in and ask, they'll give you an application. Fill it out, staple your resume to it and give it back to them. But they'll only hire you if you're an idiot or criminal.
