How To Get a Job at Fast Food?

Recommended Posts

just go in there and apply, fill it out on the spot if youve got the time. then, try to get some sort of an answer from the manager on if youll get the job, or when you can come back in and find out.. waiting for them to make the next contact is often a long process, youve got to show that you really want the job. i'd think twice about fast food, ive done that before, no fun at all.

I would never work at a FAST FOOD place. Why not a department store (at a mall, or Walmart, or Target), or a sporting goods store, or a golf course, or a grocery store??? What about Best Buy, Office Depot, coffee shop, or countless other places???

well wherever your applying go in ask anyone for an application it doesn't matter when your asking for the application who gives you it.

what does matter is when you come back to turn it in.

Then ask for the manager.

Give the application to him/her.

Sometimes the cashiers or whatever will just set it aside and it will get lost.

Plus that way you stand a better chance cus you talked to the manager personally.

Let a fellow fast food worker take care of this...

First if your 18 and in the USA, I think you need working papers. I'm 15 and I needed them...

Go get an app from the place

Fill out the app and your working papers

go back in to see the manager and he'll call you or give you an on the spot interview

then he'll give ya a uniform and when you work...

honestly tho, fast food sucks. I've been working at BK since March (first job) and I plan on qutting next Friday. I'm getting a new job at Shop-Rite as a bagger..a nice air-conditioned environment. Fast food requires too much rushing and it gets boring. But if you need to work fast food, then I'd say BK. It's pretty easy. Hope this helps.

I was a manager at a Micky D's I used to live by for 2 years. Basically just walk in and ask for an application, doesn't matter if it's a regular cashier or a manager. It's always good to know somebody that works there like a friend or something to use as a refrence. When you're ready to turn in the application, it always impressed me when a person applying for a job asked for me and handed me their application, so I suggest doing that, but you don't have to. Also, if you're really persistant and want to know about the position or if you're application has been looked at, call them up maybe 3-5 days after you've turned it in to see if it's been looked at already. Hope this helped.

one thing about fast food...

im a shift supervisor at a wendys (one step below manager)...

even tho we say we're hiring, we just take the apps and throw em out, fast food restaurants don't like minors b/c of the minimum amount of hours they can work.

Two bits of advice:

1. Always dress nice to an interview and look them into the eye. As somone who used to hire people (before I got wise and went back to school to get well wiser) these two things are largely overlooked but by fare the most important. A firm handshake also never hurts.

2. Availability. This is probably just as equally important as the first step. Expect to work weekends and tell them your willing to do so.

Not sure how strict your state laws are though keep in mind -- if the place you get hired at follows the "Rules" then you might only be allowed to work 20 hours and I think as late as nine or ten (but that was a few years ago, might of changed by now).

Well I have a job at McDonalds and it was pretty easy to get. Although it probably had somehting to do with my greatness. :p Anyway all I did was fill out an application form and then returned it to the restaurant along with my resume. Also I called back in a couple of days to say that I had handed in my resume and asked if they were hiring. I continued to do this every 4 or 5 days. I then had an interview in about 2 weeks and got the job. You just have to make it seem like you are interested. This is just my advice. Good luck!

With my job at McD, all I did was fill in an application, hand it in, and 3 days later they rang me and said yes. No resum?, no personal contacts, just my excellent self. Don't sound so excited though, fast food really is as ghey as the simpsons portray it.

Just visited arby's and asked. I filled out the application and turned it into the manager. Got an interview set up for tomorrow at 2:30. An interview.. I never knew fast food needed interviews.

I'm in high school so I'd like a part time summer job. The only thing I can really think of is fast food.

And with an imagination like that you might be stuck there for the rest of your life. Surely you can get a job in a reseraunt or something. Not some rank fast food place.

No offence to any people who work at a fast food place, but you of all people know it's not the best job in the world... right? Management levels aside...

Wow. A restaurant would be so much better. Hmm.. busting tables for tips. I'd much rather work behind a counter than walking around cleaning tables. Good thinking, guy.

Yeah, typo.

Now to corroborate my other comment:

I've sent so many emails and phone calls to tech companies and random little shops for summer jobs. But all have been 18+. Don't tell me that I haven't been trying and that I have no imagination. Hell, today, Thursday, and Friday, I'll be attending a 5 hour training course on selling vacuum cleaners for Kirby Vacuums.

I just wanted a sure-to-get job that'll give me a constant cash flow. My goal for this summer is $500 to get that new Sony DSC-T1 Camera. That thing kicks ass.
