todd
The reason the firefox blocker is so good is because its built into the browser.. the browser has a choice whether or not to open another window.. many popup blockers for IE try to catch the window from popping up, but dont have the same control that you can get with something built in. About messenger service.. I remember before i had a router getting those popups and they told me i could get software to stop them for me.. sounds kind of ironic.. and i feel sorry for anyone who doesnt know they can simply disable the service

Well IE is a lot more complicated than that. There's two types of popup blockers for IE. The crap ones (and the ones that cost money) are the ones which keep listening for new windows at regular intervals with predetermined title bar text and then kill them. The second ones (the smart ones) are BHOs that plug into IE and can control whether new windows are allowed to open. The Google toolbar works like the latter. In the early days of Mozilla, popup blocking was the same as using BHOs on IE. But now Mozilla is more complicated and supports other ways to block popup windows. (dom.disable_open_during_load, dom.disable_open_click_delay, dom.popup_allowed_events)
Frank
I would try Downloading SP2 RC2. It ads A LOT of functionality in IE that was needed in a very bad way. I have ran it on 5 machines now, with no issues. The upgraded ICF is very nice also. The reason why you won't get Active-X popups in firefox IS BECAUSE FF doesn't support Active-X.
