Need help starting Visual Basic .NET

Question

I was sent a copy of Visual Basic .NET 2003 Standard by Microsoft. I've been interested in programing but never got into it, where is a good place to learn, tutorials and the such. I know I can search Google for tutorials, but for this kind of thing it is not always the best way. If you suggest a book, what book do you suggest?

They also sent me: "Getting Started with Microsoft Visual Basic .NET 2003" by Michael Halvorson. The same author, but this says "Adapted from title" This one is only 121 pages, that one is 688. I can get the full version from Amazon for under $15 shipped.

I definitely recommend that book  It will teach you a LOT about programming if you've never done any before, and it gets into some advanced VB stuff (Y)

i liked the book that came with it. i just might follow your lead and buy the full one. the author likes computers and european history, so he has to be good. also, did you watch the at the movies tutorials?

I got sent it from *listening* to the tutorials. The video wouldn't show for me, didn't learn too much. I'm going to read the book and if I want to learn more programing I'll go ahead and buy the full version. What about online tutorials? I already bought over 20 books that I need to read on computers. :(
