I'm taking my driving exam tomorrow..

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow I'll be taking my driving exam. I don't know what to expect, so what'll they ask during the exam, and what is to be expected of me? Will it be easy?

[P.S Not permit test, but the actual driving]

Thanks. :)

For the love of god, whatever you do, shoulder check on every turn you make. Make sure it's obvious too like move your entire head and not just your eyes. Drive like a granny and stick to the limits. Dont' worry about the people honking at you. Just drive like a granny and you're fine! :)

yeah TURN YOUR HEAD AND LOOK! so many people get screwed over. drive the limit but dont go too slow. i almost got screwed over because i did that. other than that the test is really easy.

also, just relax. nervous drivers make bad drivers

i just took mine last friday too. passed with 14errors! lol  i'm not a bad driver but i havent looked at the hand book for 2years

Forget all the driving skills you learnt while playing GTA and you should be fine. ;)

unless u stayed on the road in the game, then u dont want to forget that ;)

Everyone has pretty much said what needs to be done. The biggest things are to just go into the BMV thinking about anything other than driving so you don't get yourself nervous. While you're driving do the 10 and 2 hand placement, use only one foot, signal WAY in advance, drive at exactly the speed limit, and turn your head and use your mirrors. Basicly, like Preemo said, drive like a grandma and you'll do fine.

P.S. If you're going to crash, make sure to do it as hardcore as possible, flip people off just before impact, yell cuss words or OWNED or PWNED or OMG or KTP, accelerate into the car, emu, fire hydrant to make as much of a scene as possible, or cross your arms and accept your fate. Either one of those tips will make the instructor know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you're sure as sh!t about getting your license, and you're willing to die to do so.

Don't listen to me I'm an idiot.

Some driving places try to trick you - don't freak out after reading that but it's true.

At least they do that around here at some dmvs. (L.A.)

Such as they get in the car and ask you to start the car and to drive up to so and so.

If they aren't wearing their seat belt and you start to drive then you can fail the test.

You have to say something like can you please put on your seatbelt first.

They also sometimes say to make a right turn at the red light ahead.

What they don't tell you bc they wan't you checking for it is that there is a sign saying

"no right turns on red". If you make the turn on red you will fail the test.

What will happen during the test is they ask you to locate where everything is and how to use it on your car (all the controls) and will check to see if your lights are working.

Make sure you know how to work all the stuff like defrosters and where the emergency brake and all that stuff is at.

As my driving teacher had told me, pretend your an actor. As stupid as it may look you have perform for them even if it's not how you will normally drive, do it to get the job/ pass the test. Be overdramatic - constantly check all ways and make it very obvious to them that you are doing it. So there is no doubt in their mind that you are being safe. Remember your being judged how how safe you can operate the vehicle.

You will be expected to know how to park and be able to back up three car lengths in a straight line.

When you back up the three car lengths do not look forward even once, once you have begun to back up or you will be marked off. Do NOT look forward until you have backed up enough and come to a complete stop, make it obvious you have stoped and have your foot on the brake then look forward.

you will not have to : parallel park or go on the freeway however

Driving test rock.

Remember, it's not your car, so drive it like you stole it. Slide as often as you can because remember kids, drifting looks hella cool!

Okay, I'm drunk, but hey! It's fun.

Drive steady, drive slow (not too slow) and be careful, doesn't matter if it's your first time driving or your billionth, accidents happen and lately it's been kinda wet here. I don't know how it's been up in your land but still, be careful.

 Lots of luck. Study all the written question answers. Know all the rules. Try to stay calm. Whether it will be easy will depend on the exam. person you get.
