I never really thought about this until today. But I have my links configured to go right to the forums and I don't hardly visit the home page of Neowin.net at all. I guess it is because I am not that interested in the news.

It got me wondering, how many of you are like me and go right to the forums without visiting the home page first? If so, how come?

Thanks,

BK

Please make this a poll so that everyone doesn't just post "I do".

But to answer your question. Um.... I do.

I get my tech news from l'INQ. I like my tech news soaked in a bit of alcohol and bitterness and filled with bias. Seriously (that wasn't a slag).

Same here, I rarely venture to the front page. I read the front page on my phone at work, but in the evening I just browse the forums.

How do you change a post from normal to a poll? (I'm a n00b)

Thanks,

BK

EDIT - someone did that already. What if I had not wanted it to be a poll? Can they still change the post even if I don't want that to be a poll? Just curious.

You solicit the assistance of those who do have the power. Now bask in their glory for it already has been done.

In response to your second question. They can do what they want. All for the good of Neowin.

edit: bask, bake. I suppose if their glory was REALLY hot you could bake in it...

No - its ok. I should have done it. I was just curious though. I don't know the precedures here and what the mods do and don't do all the time. I'm a hapless n00b. :)

Thanks for taking care of it. I appreciate it. (Y)

I always check the main page at least a few times a day. Mainly because I'm usually posting news (or hope to get it posted heh) or I just want to see what's news for the day.

/me smells newsposter position

Mmmm, smells like bacon!

Not quite the same poll, and we are not supposed to resurrect old threads, right?  Besides, if I had done something wrong, wouldn't a moderator have taken care of it?

A limited amount of thread resurrection is okay especially if you would be tempted to create a nearly identical thread.

In this case, the mods may or may not merge them since the old thread is a year old and it only had 57 votes before I added mine.

But that's up to the mods to address - it's their business, not some other forum members, right? If they don't have the mod graphic in their left column then they are not a moderator, correct?

The lack of a mod badge has never stopped some members from telling others what to do. This particular thread, however, has been quite polite.

Oh, ok. Thanks for clearing that up. I was not sure what up. Now I know that if they don't have a graphic, they are not mods and should not be moderating. If they do have graphics, then they are mods and they are the ones who I need to listen to. :)

But remember the lesson of the good Samaritan. Even those without mod badges or high posts count might be well connected.

I'm fairly sure, however, that the Bible did not reference post counts but you get the idea.

I do a quick scan of the news and then go to the forums. I like the fact that I can see the latest news from all 3 sections at once while in the forums.
