That's a bunch of bull****, I go to school with a bunch of Russians, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Tajiki, Azeri, Georgia (former Soviet kids) and they aren't any smarter than anyone else, actually, a couple of them are pretty damned stupid. Don't give me that bull****, the international community may learn things earlier in GRADE SCHOOL and HIGH SCHOOL than American kids, but your universities aren't **** compared to ours :ninja: :p

I believe that when he said sophmore, he meant a highschool sophmore.

Thus what they learn in Russia in Grade 5 is equivilent to what they learn in America in Grade 10.

Different parts of Canada have been compressing their curriculum to better match international standards but I don't doubt that most US public schools lag quite far behind international norms.

Uh, I realize that, I didn't say anything to the contrary.

Doesn't matter what you learn in high school; high school is a joke, it's what you learn in COLLEGE, hence the fact that US universities are unmatched. Good example: Once you get into college, nobody gives a dick once you did in high school, once you get a graduate degree, nobody gives a **** where you got your undergrad. degree.

In theory, elementary and high schools play are role in preparing the student for higher education. Lower qualities of college freshmen mean lower standards of education.

While I agree that there is some truth in your statement, your analogy could be extended a bit further to say, "Once you have five years experience in your chosen field, nobody gives a **** where you got your graduate degree".

i dont know too much about the american edu system, but almost all of the americans (3/30 of us) in my school (during year 10) were pretty bad at geography, to be fair though i'm quite sure they said they learnt political history instead. which, lets be honest, sounds a whole lot better than geography.

US vs EU is a stupid comparison anyhow :D

comparing one country thats relatively young with a whole group of countries that

are much older and have far more culture and traditions is not fair at all.

The U.S isn't the only country in North America. There is also Canada and Mexico, both rich in history.

what an intelligently composed comment, im amazed.

the thing is, i actually went to school in russia in 5th grade and last year i was studying THE SAME EXACT CRAP.. geometry was covered in third grade, then i skipped forth cos im not a retard, then i learned something like algebra2/trig, world history russian and english along with russian history...

here im learning how to sleep in my two computers classes and **** around with kids during a halfassed history class. my algebra2trig class is basically a review

and my school is rated #2 in the state of california

also, i cant say anything about univirseties myself, but how can you tell me russias universities suck if youve never been to one?

and what about those kids being no smarter than anyone else, whoever said that a high level of education makes a person smart? it makes them knowledgeable

all in all, it seems like you are a paranoid american desperatley trying to defend your countries pride from the evil commies who are out to take over everything. jeez u were probably stupid enough to buy gasmasks to protect yourself from antrhax following 911

In America, you have the freedom to achieve just about anything you want to do.

You want to be a bum, you can......you want to be a movie star/music star, you can.

You want to live your live within the law how you want, you can, you want to be

president, you can. America has boundless limits on what you can do. In Europe,

you have rampet socialism, runaway inflation etc....Gas is 3-4 times what it costs in

the USA, do to socialism (taxing everyone and everything), they have government

healthcare for all (if you can get into a doctor before you die).

The US system has problems, everyone knows that, but, we have one of the worlds

best economic engines that can sustain us during just about any socioeconomic

situation. If Europe would get it's act together, they would be a lot better off.

They pretty much have to bow down to terrorist because they, for the most part,

do not have the ability to protect themselves (save for Britian). Europe has a

great history, but for some reason, has decieded to remove themselves from the

worlds responsibility to protect themselves for the last 60 years, relying on NATO

to do it. Now that the soviet union is no more, they need to step up to the plate

and learn how to properly defend themselves. All the rampet social programs in

place in Europe have dissolved a lot of Europeans responsibility to themselves,

relying on government for everything.

America has started down the road to the same problem. Blame everyone else,

it's not my fault I'm on drugs, I have no job, poor me.....It's someone elses fault.

People in America have forgotten our heritage or individualism, patrotism, self

worth.....If we (Americans) don't get our act together, we'll be just like some of

Europe in a few decades.......

:alien:
