Closing an AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) account

I don't think you can. Or at least, I do not know of a way you can. Unless, maybe you do not sign into your account for a certain number of days/weeks/months. Then they may delete it.

I tried signing into an account I had made like 6 years ago that I forgot about and it still works. :s

I think with the new version (5.5) in the EULA it says that if you haven't signed on AIM within 60 or 90 days, then AOL has the right to delete your account. In the past, it was just if you wanted a new screenname, then you just abandon your old one and make a new one. Guess AOL is running out of names.

Guess AOL is running out of names.

they actually release old screen names at certains times in a year that people have long be inactive on AOL. this is when the aol scene kids gobble them all up since they know which ones are coming out.

I wish I could grab the sn "Zain" :( I hate people who register names and then never use them. I havent seen "Zain" on, evar. "HellBender" too.

Well you could just lock yourself out of it. Like change the password to something you can't remember, like a bunch of random letters and numbers. Then change your email for the account to some old one so you won't be able to retrieve the password. I think that's what I did before, lol. ;)

What site do they release the names on? I'd like to take a look. It'd be somewhat interesting.

I wish I could have got the SN Xer34. Im still stuck with the one I created 5 years ago. But at least its better than having it change all the time I guess.
