Ripping DVDs and VHS

Recommended Posts

i have no idea where this thread belongs but i have discovered a new way of ripping dvds and VHS and it does not take much time at all. i discovered this while i was putting my home videos which are on casettes on to DVDs. as i was watching the home videos on the DVDs i realized that the quality is still like the videos and there are a lot of parts i would like to edit. so i connected my dvd to my video camera and recorded from the dvd on to the camera tape. then connected my camera to my computer and using Pinnacle 9 i was able to put all the footage onto my computer and edit and also select what format to put it in. at first i thought this was too easy, so then i tested this with a dvd of zoolander. i recorded the entire movie onto my camera then conencted to pinnacle 9 then outputed it into first mpeg then avi. then i had myself a ripped perfect quality rip of a movie.

:D

edit: this also works by conencting the camera to the TV and recording shows directly onto the camera then later connecting to the comp and editing out the comercials and etc.. this is really a good thing especially right now because i get to put a lot of the euro 2004 games onto my computer.

to rip DVDs : record onto your digital video camera from the dvd machine -> take footage from video camera and put onto comp.
