R-Style
MSN must to make a move when you look to Yahoo and GMail. I think the best way that MSN can do is to start a Fair Use Policy. You can storage so much E-mails if you like. But there is no Limit. There is a Fair Use Policy.
I8PP
Not very cost effective for Microsoft, is it? Considering they have millions and millions of free accounts out there.
NeoSigma
 So what are you saying that they should use a Fair Use Policy or that there is a Fair Use Policy?

Stunod7
Man... I hate it when the topic title doesn't really do an accurate job of telling us what the thread is about... I think some questions marks would have worked better or an IMO or... Hell, anything.... I'm going back to bed until another thread wakes me up. HellBender
he doesnt know what hes talking about. Unlimited storage really is feasable, especially for a company as large as Microsoft. Lets face it.. How many people are going to hit 1gb on Gmail? Nobody. Probably the main reason why it isnt being done is because the influx of users suddenly switching to Hotmail will kill the servers.
R-Style
But i think Microsoft must do something to change Hotmail. They will lose Users. I hope not that Google will also start a Messenger program in the Future!!
cyclingplatypus
How many people are going to hit 1gb on Gmail? Nobody. Especially when you look at the number of people who want pop3 access to go with it
hoyablue
Especially when you look at the number of people who want pop3 access to go with it  If you had POP access, I woudn't see the point of having 1GB.
Gary_Player
Even when using pop3 i still like to leave my mail on their servers so i can get to it whenever and wherever i need to. I've had my hotmail account for 6 or 7 years now and unless they up the storage limit it might be time to retire it and jump on the google-wagon

Soviet
MicroSoft doesnt have to offer more space and people will still use it. They know this.
[ timko ]
Even when using pop3 i still like to leave my mail on their servers so i can get to it whenever and wherever i need to. Indeed. That would be the main reason I'd like such a large mail box too. Easy access and easily searchable should I want to find out something a friend/relative told me about previously (Y)
R-Style
Maybe MSN is gonna re open POP3 for the free hotmail service!!!!!
Banzai
that would never work, msn will have to get rid of their pay for extra storage account. Cuz what have they got to offer pay 40pounds for 100mb or get 100mb free from yahoo or 1gb from gmail. I recon by the end of the year they will stop the pay for service. Bearded Kirklander
There are many free services to choose from now. If Hotmail does not suite your needs, just use Yahoo or some other service.
black.ops
But hotmail is the best. Most used internet client where I come from.

Hurmoth
Not very cost effective for Microsoft, is it? Considering they have millions and millions of free accounts out there. True, but how many people are going to use 1 Gigabyte of storage for email (which, usually most emails are only around 1-100KB). They can get you by limiting how big the email can be. Bearded Kirklander
But hotmail is the best. Most used internet client where I come from. I have heard others say Yahoo is the best by quite a bit. Either way, we have options and I'm happy with things the way they are progressing.
R-Style
The best thing that Microsoft can do is re open the POP3 for free hotmail members. And that you can read and write e-mails in MSN messenger!!!! You don't need the 2Mb anymore!!!!!!!
Peter Aziz
I thought of a good way of doin it.. Hotmail can make a virtual storage for free to 1 GB for accounts being there for more than 1 year or something.. and make the storage 1oo mb like yahoo for new accounts.. I think its a nice idea for facing gmail..
