session
Oh, cute. So, since I don't roll with the BS that the little Mac fanboys puke out, I'm lumped in with the Balmer kid. Interesting concept. And quite the brilliant personal attack on someone who's not in here to defend himself. One question...have you always been this bright, or is this the result of a head injury? My injured head gets me into UBC when that kid is high school drop out and a liar. Sorry, that was caused by using PC! 50%/50%
VGVL
OMG that made me lose all respect for you. Microsoft and Logitec are the world leaders on that field and Microsoft has been quite innovative on that field too. First to use scroll wheel, first to use tilt wheel, first to use acceptable wire-less mice, first to create "natural" keyboards, first to use "dual optical" mice and so on... What has apple been doing? Over expensive badly designed mice and keyboards made only for good looks and single button mice? Apple has innovated in many more areas than Microsoft, but I will let someone more knowledgeable than me explain that to you. Example One: Windows XP doesn't even have a decent Drag-and-Drop system yet! We've had Spring-Loaded Folders since the MacOS 8 days. Example Two: QuartzExtreme. Example Three: Expos?. Even downloading music is *free and legal) Free country. Yeah, Canada is a great country. I've been up there a few times. Btw, how do you like the iTunes music store? We've had Spring-Loaded Folders since the MacOS 8 days. We were talking about hardware, to be precice :input devices there for crying out loud, and the fact is in the software field Apple steals about as many ideas as Microsoft, they didn't even make their own kernel from the ground. Obviously some people think defending a liar is more important than talking about facts! Nothing is impossible! And, I've used Microsoft mouse and keyboard--I even have one MS bluetooth desktop--they are not as good as logitech mx duo or apple bluetooth! @ice: you want something from scatch or something that's reliable and useable? * This post is made on a Windows based machine

Hm...they've glopped a proprietary GUI and libraries on top of an open-source kernel and operating system, then glommed that onto off-the-shelf hardware attached to most-times crippled motherboards and processors designed by IBM, and sold at an exaggerated price to a group of near-fanatical followers who would buy anything and everything Apple put out, reguardless of quality or value. Where exactly is the innovation? Oh...they have spring-loaded folders, and they made a really cool, revolutionary music player. Man...and to think, Steve Jobs hasn't won a Nobel Prize yet. Kestrel
well, i have a question. i don't see why i can't ask while this is totally reasonable and possible - while microsoft keeps delaying longhorn and they haven't had any major os update since 2001. maybe they will lost some market during this time:whistle:e: No... it ISN'T possible and you'd understand that if you had spent any time in the software business. Windows is a good chunk of revenue for Microsoft (though FAR from being a fatal blow should it suddenly go away) but considering only Windows, new OSes amount to only a very small percentage of OS sales. Work in software for a while and you'll quickly realise how FEW people are actually using newer OSes and what a limiting effect it can have on the features you build in to your software. The delay of Longhorn is, if anything, a good thing for Microsoft as the hardware requirements of Longhorn proper are so high that even today's high-end PCs would chunk pretty heavily. People don't upgrade hardware purely to buy a new OS so in order for the OS to be successful, you have to have a significant base of high-end machines capable of running it. Only time can provide that kind of a change in the hardware your customer base is using. Besides... who is there to lose market share to? OS-X? Gorgeous but actually has a DECLINING market share... Apple are an ironic company because the more they do RIGHT, the more the market punishes them. Linux? Don't make me laugh... Linux is a dead-end; I don't know how many times I've been told to prepare for a Linux release and then had the project canned due to lack of customer interest. The popularity of Linux is hyped beyond all semblance of reality by the zealotry of the /. crowd. In the real world, there's very little interest from customers. aaron901
you see, in the other thread where someone asked about what would happen to OSX if Apple dies, no one has turnt that thread into an Apple vs Microsoft flamefest. this thread was alright until the greatest Mac-basher of all time says , "Only a mac fanboy would start a thread like this." i really wonder how he got away sooooooo many times. liar2
I think that Microsoft would take windows to the grave with them. It obviously isn't going to happen anytime soon seeing as how they hold quite a strong footing in the market today. But in due time, it is bound to happen. Mac and linux users are increasing every day. People are realizing that there are more choices open to them other than windows. Microsoft is losing some of its customers to open source programs such as open office and the like simply because of cost. They may also be tossing out hardware such as keyboards, mice, and networking equipment as well, but who is to say that other companies aren't doing so? Apple has been selling their own hardware and software for years. iPod has been a huge success for apple. Millions of people use their iPods and download music via iTunes on a daily basis. This just goes to say that Microsoft is bound to die someday, but nobody can tell when. And when it does die, the people will have other choices because windows will be gone. Since you say that: Microsoft has only made one Bluetooth model of keyboards and mice and they were the first to release such device, even many months before Logitec so ofcourse they are not better than logitec's. Logitec and others had plenty of time to research Microsoft's desktop set.
VGVL
@ice: you want something from scatch or something that's reliable and useable? Exactly what I was about to say. I would much rather use a kernel that is known to work and has been through years of testing than use a new kernel that will offer no advantages over the so considered "old" kernel.
