Google OS

Recommended Posts

Hey anybody noticed google movements lately? email service , tons of additional features keep building up, and the computer searching program annoucment

I think that it is very likely that google will start developing an os 2 years from now if things keep going so well for it

Also anyone noticed the US job boom? it just started, I think google's gonna thrive off the US economy starting to be so strong again

so know that I got out of the way why I believe a google os is highly likely what do u think it will be like if it happens

I can see a decently compatible and very fast os I think, probaly sorta a combo of linux and windows

and actually stable, if it happens it should be awesomely crazy, simple enough for a 3 year old to use, and advanced enought to make coders, gmaers, developers happy

google is a great company, I hope it creates some competition for microsoft (already has for yahoo, haha)

btw there is speculation that the reason longhorn is taking so long is part of microsoft's defense against the newbie power google, make it stronger and better so that google can't get up and into the OS world, although linux is a threat to microsoft it's a minor one, the normal user barely even knows what it is, and apple, haha apple is too caught up in design, looks, and coolness

So what do you think, will google make an OS, and if so what sort of things should we expect

By the time they got it RTM, Longhorn would be out, and probably the USA economy would have taken another dive.

Google also doesnt really have the money to gamble on making there own OS.

It is a big jump from what Google has been doing to making an OS!

If they wanted to go that route I would suspect they would bundle Google designed stuff with and open source OS. I think that if they are smart though they will stick with what they know best and not try to create a new OS.

They'll be lucky if they get gmail out public this year, I doubt they'll come out with an OS.

There more likely to come out with there own movie before this happens..I can see it now Google the movie, staring Keanu Reeves as Gmail.

how else would a company grow to get the money to build a good OS, though the net, google is in a better position then any other company to take on microsoft, and they can do it, the question is when and how

Google wont be the hot company forever, MSN or Yahoo! will once again take over as the search engine king. It just happens on the net. Then you guys will be talking about will so & so be making a OS.

yea

not sure about an google OS but a chat/messenger program would rock

I still dont see why. Just because its from google doesnt mean it will be good.

...

ok I take that back. But why do we need more IM clients? As if we dont have enough already?

Maybe they could devise a better search/indexing mechanism for current OSs.

Now THAT would be nice.

seriously though, if it was legal and I knew all of you, I would beat each of you 100 bucks that in 5 years google will start work on an OS ( GOS, lol)

how many have noticed it's build up of programmers and lack of relations with microsoft, google is already thinking about it, and gates knows it

an OS is defined as a collection of "programs and utilities"

Search & Email alone doesn't constitute much of an OS.

Frankly, writing an OS is not an easy task. Not to mention, Google may follow the trend of outsource the project to people in India. That would not create much more jobs in US would it?

darn it where are the forward thinking people on this forum?! lol anyways though yahoo has defined themselves as a stable company, they don't grow, they gasp for breath

google is an information company, not a search company, it goal is to organize the world's information, and organization has no use without a way to view that infomation, so why hasn't it partnered with microsoft and don't say cause of msn search, that wouldn't stand in the way of other stuff for them to partner on

jsut trust me keep at least one eye on google, microsoft is gonna die many years before it does and somebody is gonna rise, so who better, redhat no, sun no, macintosh no, yahoo haha as if, lycos rofl, google likely
