fuel925
Just to clear some things up, the computer rules my house time, not my life. I enjoy a lot of out-the-house activities, but when I am at my house I tend to grab a beer and crash in front of the computer as opposed to using that time constructively, for instance practising music. The whole music program thing is good thinking, however its not entirely suitable for my needs, but please keep the ideas rolling in :D

Elliot B.
Another idea would be to install a music making program on your computer... That's a good idea (Y) I am the same as you fuel925. Whenever I am home, I am on the PC (because my music, games and movies revolve around it). The two things I have tried to do is get other hobbies and use my natural-will to force myself to spend time doing them, even if I prefer my PC. Also, I try to go out more, which obviously gets me away from the PC.

Shadrack
How about this;Play music, get more sex Go on net, have less sex No ones gonna discover you behind a computer, so go out there and be discovered. Haven't you seen those commercials for eHarmony.Com. They use 29 levels of compatibility! No serious. It takes no self control, just drugs. I am out enough as it is, and I have a specific purpose to spend less time at the pc, which is to practise music, so the whole get out more thing doesnt work for me. Fuzzbling
Ok, here's my last piece of advice. Then I'm gonna leave you to ponder it. Everything in life is a choice. Be it conscious or sub conscious, we make choices about what we do or do not do. Think about it. There are always reprocusions to a choice, good or bad, but we are always left with a choice to do or not to do. It's hard to understand at first and even hard to accept. But it is the truth no matter how you look at it.

Parhaps download riffs, simple beats etc. on your PC and loop them to assist with your playing? You can then use your drums or guitar (or whatever you have) to make new tunes that go along with the riff/beat you're looping on your PC? That make sense? :s

I am the same lol. I start watching a DivX then I think hmm, MSN Messenger lol. And besides, my idea doesn't really stop you usng your PC. However, it does make you practise your instruments more. Glowstick
Just start working on your music skills when you think you want. It might be annoying to move away from the computer, but you'll get over that as soon you started doing other stuff. I witness that effect all the time when I have to wash my car or learn for certifications.

Thats a fair point, once ive got over the initial magnetism of the computer, maybe it will seem less attractive to be on it. I think its habit more than anything else at the moment. I mean if I didnt want to concentrate on my music I wouldnt bother spending less time on the computer because like I said its not my whole life just my house life. akaladis Veteran Posted June 22, 2004 Veteran Share Posted June 22, 2004 well this is how i did it... i had to focus on upcoming exams, so i rarely used to pc during april & may... yes, the pc was open 24/7... yes, it was on the internet 24/7... and im not sure what i did... i just knew i had to study... i would chat with Flishfun on MSN every now and then, but that's it... and something else... (maybe relevant): during that time, i would either study or practice on the guitar... i found some metallica tabs on the internet, printed them and started learning some songs :) you won't believe it but i enjoyed it more than a pc... i would try and try again until i got it right... and when that happened (after a few hours...) i didn't want to go back on the pc, but i prefered to play more (since i had it right!!) /Raptor
