... of college that is. I finally decided to leave that **** hole of a place, im not returning back now, there are still 4 weeks of college, but not for me.

Im going to start an Electrician Apprenticeship this September with Glan Hafren, they have all my details and are sending out an enrollment form for me.

My mate Joe started an Electrician Apprenticeship last year, and the firm he works for is cool, so i got that number and im going to give them a ring this week to see if they have a place for me there.

The money is good aswell, ?130 a week to start off, every 6 months i get a ?40 a week raise, and its a 3 year course, so before i "graduate" from the course ill be on a nice swift ?300+ a week. Pretty decent if you ask :D :D

So now ive got over 2 months off, in which im going to get a job, learn to drive (could be driving by now, i was 17 last September), go to Reading, have partys, get dru:D :D

The 4 weeks left of college that im supposed to have are only for starting next years courses, only 1 of my 3 subjects is a 2 year course, so id basically be starting next years courses for no point. I wanted to drop out of college last November, but i decided to stick it through and do my exams, i did and i cannot take 1 more day in that place.

?300 = $363? Doesn't sound like a whole lot to me. Usually a good job pulls at least $500 a week. ?130 doesn't sound like a whole lot to start off on either.

Wait, so let me get this straight:

You're 17, you have 4 wks left of college.

Is this a 4 yr college we're talking about, or a 2 yr college.

Does this mean that you started college at either 13, or 15:blink:nk:

edit:// upon rereading your post, I'm guessing you had 1 yr of college, and decided to quit before the summer vacation.

Who actually likes listening to lectures? Nobody.. But today, markets are so oversaturated that people torture themselves through decades of school just to make money.

You might be doing decently right now, but what if you lose this job? Even if you stay in this job forever, it's mighty hard to live off of $2000 a month for your whole life.

If I were you, I'd part-time at the job and still continue in college. In fact, I was offered a job by IBM and I decided to turn it down just so I could finish my college.

I think you misunderstand. This is an Electrician Apprenticeship with a college. After 3 years ill be a qualified Electrican, i could either get a better paid job with another company, or be self employed.

And why is that may i ask?

what if you don't like it, being an electrition isn't the best job in the world and your already in collage why not finish it.

Ah, guess that's it.

Pretty decent then.

In the UK people need to pay tax, and it's really really high

For example:

24,000 pounds = 2000pounds X 12month

But after tax is about 1300 a month.

(that's not how much I earn, just an example.... :D )

i think he means that its not very smart to drop out of school just because its booohooring. man, i hate going to school, but hey, if i can get a good job with a good pay, ill torture myself through school.. it isnt that bad, and its not like you live in the classroom, i have school time and free time, so do you, just get yourself together, have a fun summer and go back to school after, i promise you, itll be your best decision ever.

I realise it isnt the best job in the world, but trust me, my dad knows a few electricians and they are rolling in it, they work for companies and also do little jobs on the side when they arent working for extra money.

And Kriz when u start working especially when u want to change ur job, you will regret that time should have finished ur degree... yes degree now a days doesn't really mean anything, but it looks much much better on ur CV and gives u a wider choice of job.... Anyway, good luck to you

all i can say is if i lived in the UK, i sure the hell hope that you wouldn't work on my house, sorry but i wouldn't trust someone that is 17 and not a licensed electrition

Its not like im going to be un supervised. Im going to working with professionals, they teach you the basics, then you start going out doing jobs when you actually know what your doing.

You didnt actually think that they are just going to give me a badge saying "Electrician" and send me out on jobs on my own did you?
