Microsoft Blacklisting GMail?

Recommended Posts

Well im going to start off by saying that I am using XP Prof: Service Pack 2 v.2142

First wierd thing that happened was that when I first got invited into gmail, I was presented with a link to register.

Once clicking it the page would download in the status bar but I would remain on the site where I clicked it from, no matter the site.

I then enter gmail threw mozilla instead.

Second I send some emails out to various hotmail accounts that belong to my friends such as my mom me and others, I then find out that my emails were sent into the junk mail folders for a few people.

Then the people clicked "This is not junk mail" and then the email then disapears from there inbox completely.

Third thing I noticed was when I try to login to GMail threw ie, ie completley blocks off all the forms, so I cannot fill in my username nor password, I can only tick remeber password.

So now im starting to use mozilla for GMail, but wish to use ie.

Is this just me?

Could it be SP2s default security settings?

I still have yet to see another site that disables forms completely.

Edit, the forms can be typed in if you goto the actual page its self, ie dosnt like these forms in a iframe on this site. :/

But still no luck logging in.

i don't think microsoft's blacklisting gmail, but i did notice some strange things after installing sp2 rc2. i can't log in to gmail on this computer, nor can i sign into messenger with my gmail account. on computers without sp2, i can do both.

As for signing into you need a passport which I am getting right now.

Still they may blacklist them if they havnt yet due to the fact that sense hotmail is a large email provider, which could soon end thanks to gmail. They may be trying to save hotmail from that.

EDIT: I just got a passport and it works fine, no problems with that.

hmm, so your passport works on sp2? i get this error message - "Sorry, we could not sign you in because the sign-in name you entered does not exist or your password is incorrect. If you have forgotten your password, please click Help in the main Messenger window, and then click Help Topics for instructions on resetting your password. 0x81000303" - which is odd, because the password/username are both correct and work fine on my other computers.

Read this news post from zdnet. ;)

http://news.zdnet.co.uk/software/applicati...39157755,00.htm

Theres also a topic on yahoo, but no news article.

I wouldn't care too much about that article and the related stuff.

Most people don't have problems using Gmail/getting invites with IE/MSN and the like.

Just that the people who do come across these issues make the biggest noise, making you believe that Microsoft is out to crush Gmail.

You have to remember that Gmail is still in testing. The same goes for SP2 (seems that those users are the ones having the most problems).

I'm sure they will iron out the bugs come release time.

Gmail is stupid and lame. Get over it; its just another free mail provider.

You just say that because you don't have one :D

Works fine on IE running on SP1. Maybe you should wait 'till it's final release

uh...no

sp2's default security settings will not, in any way, affect the email that you receive. not to mention on a webmail account...
