VB .NET 2005...?

Question

Should I wait until the release of VB .NET 2005 to learn VB .NET and buy the compiler? Is it supposed to be coming out soon? I don't want to spend money on an instruction book and compiler jus to be out of date in a few weeks...

Info appreciated. :)

You should start learning asap, VB "Whidbey" is only going to become more complex as they add more the the language. :D

I don't know about "more complex". There's going to be more features added, but it's going to be 100% backwards compatible. .net 2.0 framework isn't due out till later in 2005. Beta 1 is coming soon.

The compiler is free, it's only the development environment that costs money

Ok, gotcha.

Now, T've never programmed (going to start very soon) so, can you actually MAKE an application and run it in the command line, and it will show up with a UI, or no?

Yes, but you will have to create the UI by code instead of in the designer.
