My New TFT!

Recommended Posts

OK.. so it might not be as good as some of the pricey ones you can buy out there, but I have been in the market for a new monitor (specifically a TFT) for some time now.. went to a computer fair today and found this one.

Its an AOC apparently, with 3 years on site warranty, its 19", its Grade A with no dead pixels that I can see.. DVI & Composite (currently attached via the DVI - nice and sharp) with a USB hub in the back..

Very impressed so far - Windows is amazingly crisp, even better than my Iiyama Vision Master Pro 455 that it replaced.. games aren't stunning, but still more than playable..

Cost me ?369:))

The generic Dell E172FPb I was considering buying was around ?270 in most places, so I figured another ?100 for another 2 inches of screen space was probably worth :) :)

Can't find a great deal of information on this monitor on the net.. in fact I can't find anything.

Which is obviously always a bit worrying.. so if anyone owns one or know a little more about the Dot Pitch / Response time / etc then i'd be greatful - only model number I can find is :

TFT1980A+

Cheers.

Hey man, congrats. Usually I would agree that if you can't find many facts on the net about it it seems a bit shady. But you got a 3 year warranty so should be ok. Plus, if you like it and thinks it looks good, then screw the specs. Looks nice BTW. Enjoy! :D

AOC are a good brand apparently, I have read good things about them, in fact one of their monitors got the "Editor's Choice" award for a few months in a magaziene that I collect. I'm pretty sure you would have gotten yourself a good unit there.

Any chance you could list the specs?

On a side note....

I don't think your decision to buy from the computer markets was good because if somthing goes wrong you might warranty issues, I hope you get the supplier's full business details. I've had a couple of dramas where I couldnt get a part replaced because of dodgy dealers at the computer fair. Make sure you keep a record of when and where you bought it.

we have AOC TFT displays at work, damn good for the price, although ?360+ maybe a bit too steep. Saying that though I dont know what the retail prioces for these things are as we get them at trade discounts. Going to get myself one when I'm next at our suppliers.

?360 for a 19" TFT is pretty good from what I can tell.. i've been looking into getting one for a month or two and have been watching the prices like a hawk. We just bought a pair of 18.1" LG L1800P monitors for work (?420), and whilst the features are nice the picture quality just doesn't seem better than this AOC I just bought.. so i'm very happy.

And yeah, it seems to be that LM917 that someone posted previously., except with DVI Input instead.. so instead its the LM91:):)

I didn't notice it had crappy speakers built into the base - I didnt want any as I already have Cambridge DTT3500's.. never noticed them until I got the monitor home. Oh well!

Oh.. and wallpaper was from her:):)
