Steffan
Has your friend clear their cache? What version of IE and firefox are they running? Are they going thru a proxy server? What OS are they using?
Adrian
Go through his HOSTS file and remove anything related to neowin
SickWorm
He is offline 10 minutes now.. Thanks for you suggestions i will tell him what you've said! I don't know about IE but his Firefox is 0.
Adrian
Tell him to navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc then open the file in there called "hosts" with notepad, and remove anything related to neowin. Also, if he is running Outpost as his firewall, tell him to clear the dns cache on it.
HellBender
It might be Neowin's auto-newbie-detection system

Tim Dorr Veteran Posted June 27, 2004 Veteran Share Posted June 27, 2004 Something's messed up with his user account. You'll have to get an admin to fix up his entry. Send the username to Redmak and let him know to change their skin setting manually in the members table in MySQL (he'll know what that means). Wannes
why make it so complicated Timdorr? :p you can change a members skin just in the admin cp and the sql tables will get updated that way. :)
HellBender
,Jun 26 2004, 23:23] why make it so complicated Timdorr? :p you can change a members skin just in the admin cp and the sql tables will get updated that way. :) By "manually" he means directly to the database rather than through IPB. That can be through anything from the command line to phpmyadmin to cp.

SickWorm
So I told him what you've said and he tried them but he still gets the same error! The only solution is to do what timdorr said I guess! :) Edit: Hmm nevermind, it's working now! It needed some time I guess! Thanks y' all Edited June 27, 2004 by SickWorm
