What's better: High-end Accord or Low-end Acura?

Recommended Posts

Our family's considering buying a new car soon (in the next year or so) and we were originally considering buying a Honda Accord Sedan. However, when we added all the features in the car that we wanted (leather seats, EX model), the price came to be only slighly lower (a few thousand less) than the lower-end configuration of the Acura TSX. What do you think would be a better idea - sticking with the high-end Accord or going with a low-end Acura TSX and spending a few thousand more? Obviously the Accord is cheaper, but will the Acura be of a much better value to make it worth spending the extra thousand bucks?

it depends.. i would go with the high end accord because in the long run maintenance and repairs are cheaper for the honda than the acura and it will have a better value

Someone mind explaining what Acuras are (yes i know cars of a honda nature) Are they Honda models that the rest of the world gets, just they have to be renamed for the US market to make them sound better.

we have hondas here too but acuras are like the higher end hondas here in the US. that's pretty much it

i think you should just go for the accord. pretty much the same thing so same some money

basically, Acura is the luxury company of Honda.

other examples-

Audi > Volkswagen

Lexus > Toyota

Usually only the Japanese manufacturers do this because of the need to justify it.

Who wants to pay 70k for a Toyota Celsior when people will do that for the EXACT same thing but called Lexus LS430.

On the other hand, Volkwagon is having a pretty ****ty time with their Phateon :D

You might want to consider contacting your insurance company as well to see if its much more expensive to insure one over the other. If its not too different i would just get the one that you enjoy the most in a test drive.

Good point. I didn't think of the maintenance costs. Thanks for the advice.

Good advice. Thank you, I'll make sure to consider this when I decide which to take.

Actually, you really can't go wrong with either....insurance wise, the accord may actually be higher, due to it being one of the top stolen vehicles....figurea an acura is a high end honda anywhoo....

I've been in both....both are really nice, but I would go with the acura....

Both are really good cars. I would honestly be in a bind on this one, seeing as I love both companies and both cars (even though they basically are the same thing). I would decide based on price... if there's a big difference in price go with the lower one... they're both basically the same anyway.
