Lightning strikes computer to paralysis

At 4:30PM, June 25, all computers of a toll station of a freeway in Nanning, a city of extreme southern China west of Guangzhou and the capital of Guangxi Zhuangzu, were hit by lightning strike and got paralysis. Traffic got very slow there hence. Technicians checked the computers and deemed that all NICs in the machines have been burned by lighning.

At 2:15PM, June 26 (Beijing Time), a lightning strike suddenly attacked a crowd who were gambling under 5 firs in Qian Village, Duqiao Town, Linhai City, Zhejiang Province, China, killing 15 young persons, including 2 women, and injuring 15, 3 out of them seriously.

Remark: It is easily understandable that lightning could damage computers.

But kill people under trees? Hmm, it said the common sense is that when lightning stricks you should not stand under a tree. I'm not clear about this, because I've stood under trees for so many times and nothing happened.

that first one makes sence, but as for the people getting hit under the trees, kinda weird i think :s

well, just because you were under a tree and survived doesnt mean that much although if its a large tree, thats a somewhat stupid thing to do :blink:

the lightning needs to travel to earth and may hit a tree in the process.... if it snaps and falls on you... well, your posting days are over :laugh:

How about you? I deemed most of you have been under a tree for a lot of times when lightning strike stormed. :woot:

But from now on, don't do so again.
