Apple OS 9.0 had a *sort of* remote desktop... well at least you could control others computers and see what was going on with them etc...

Well at least I can do this at school on all of their macs?

honestly and truly some of you are a bunch of knobbo's. For these idiots I shall now quote from the Apple website:

As the administrator, you can make sure the computers sleep, wake, restart or shut down when you want them to. You can restore hard disk configurations and generate reports at will. And you can do all of that remotely. For faculty and administrative staff members, Apple Remote Desktop provides access to files and applications on their Mac systems remotely across the Internet, enabling them to work when they're at home, at another school or out of town.

Manage system shutdown, restart, sleep and wake functions remotely ? for a single Mac or for the Macs on your network. In a school computer lab, for instance, Apple Remote Desktop lets you quickly make sure that all systems are turned off at the end of the day. You can save power by putting computers that are not in use into sleep mode, quickly waking them again when it's time to use them.

Want to make sure there are no bootlegged copies of non-standard software on your network? With Apple Remote Desktop, you can audit installed software ? and find and delete unauthorized applications ? in an instant.

Don't want to manage the entire network yourself? You don't have to. Apple Remote Desktop features a tiered administrative structure, and can be used to support up to 20 lists or clusters of up to 250 computers each, for a total of up to 5000 users. So you can delegate by assigning administrative tasks and privileges for up to 20 subordinates and team leaders at the workgroup level.

now when you can do that with that cut down low budget version of remote desktop thats thenen you can start bitching about what apple stole from M$.

i admit i probably dislike steve jobs more than bill gates....however i cant stand bill gates.

i hate apple. i hate microsoft.

apples OS is 10 times better than microsofts.

however, i like the idea of being able to customize my own pc....so i learn to live with m$...

talk of stealing ideas? rofl...

just cus someone has a good idea it doesnt mean someone else cant have one ;).... some of this stuff just seems like it would be common knowledge. if you have the resources to do something that makes life easier, make life easier ;p

the only way a company can "steal" an idea.... is by copying the code directly, even then, im not against it ;p as long as its not a huge corporate business looking to shut out hte lil guy.

Huh? What are you talking about? Remote Desktop Connection in XP is vastly superior to Terminal Services from Win2k. It is still Terminal Services (ver 5.1 now) but the client is much improved. How is it low budget? You can log in to a remote computer as an Administrator, and do anything you want. Full color and sound are now supported. Have you tried its brother Remote Assistance? Yet another sweet tool MS has included in XP. Collaborating with colleagues/friends has never been easier, more powerful, or more feature rich. Enough crack for you, your talkin crazy ****.
