FriedApple
I didn't know where to put this thread - sorry if this is the wrong spot. Anyway - I have used Trillian and I do not like it. Are there some others out there that will work just well? I want simple and clean. If there is something like iChat for windows that will give me Yahoo, AIM and MSN would be great. Thank you very much! Mark

biorK
Software Discussion Anyway. I think Trillian is the best out there, other is Miranda IM, also a good client. Try for yourself and see what fit your needs.

[ timko ]
This thread could very easily turn into a flame war :o but until then... ...*I* like trillian :)

chacho
You guys need to stop saying Trillian/Pro...he specifically said he does NOT like it, and is asking for reccomendations of other clients... if you are one of those minimalistic people, Miranda IM is a very clean, simple, and effective client. Open source, too! Gaim is a good multi-network client as well. http://www.miranda-im.org/ http://gaim.sourceforge.net/

Hum
;) I prefer ICQ and Msn seperately, easier to keep up with, and if one is out, the other works.
FriedApple
Software Discussion Opps sorry :) I didn't mean this to be a flame war. Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion. Like mine, I just really don't like Trilian. It is just something about it. I will give Gaim and Miranda a shot. Does anyone know if they support file transfering? I do that quite often. //edit - I looked at the file transfering for them, thanks! Thanks Mark
Tokar
There are a few on the market. Note: i dont use Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, or Jabber networks, only AIM. GAIM - http://gaim.sourceforge.net/ MirandaIM - http://www.miranda-im.org/ Trillian - http://www.trillian.cc/ Everybuddy - http://ayttm.sourceforge.net/ Easy Message - http://www.easymessage.net/ Easy message and Everybudy are "lite" clients...meaning they are meant for chatting purposes only without all the bloat-ware features. Miranda-IM first started out as an ICQ client. So its feature heavy in the ICQ department as evidenced by the plugins available. Its lackluster in the AIM department...it just recently added file-send support. Trillian started out as an IRC client with lite-AIM support. I feel that it has too much of an IRC feel. Its well overdone if you ask me. The reason i dont use it is because of the away message system. I prefer the system AIM gives you (and GAIM offers as an option)...since Trillian gives you some crapo annoying one, i dont use trillian. GAIM...i think this is a winner. It does direct connection in AIM better than trillian. It has a better interface and better options window. It has that MacOS iChat feel...something i like... I recommend GAIM if you ask me.
