I used it when it first came out with a few of my friends I no longer have it installed now but it worked pretty well. Actually I was so pleased with using VoIP that I switched to using Vonage, so I VoIP all the time. Maybe I'll give it a try again.

Heard of it awhile ago, but it just seems like a waste. I just type to my mates, call them (during Free-Time hours ;)) or just go over, they all live within 5mins of my house..

I and my friends use it quite a lot for international conversations - the voice quality is far superior to the phone line, even just from Scotland - England. You can set how much bandwidth the program uses for the VoIP or just let it do it's thing (if I remember correctly it only takes about 16kb/s on top setting). Conference calls are crystal clear although you still have the usual problem of hearing more than one person at a time speaking, but since conference calls on telephones are just as bad it's not a problem really. It doesn't have a file transfer option which seems a shame but the creators wish to concentrate on just getting the actual VoIP features as good as they can be - but they do include an IM ability (not compatible with AIM or MSN or others).

It's also compatible with VoIP phones like the @phone, which can really drop the price of international and mobile calls (mobiles in the UK for about 3p per minute cheaper) and the voice quality is great.

If you just do the odd bit of chatting online or you want videoconferencing and file transfer capabilities get another program. If however, you do a lot of talking online, you want excellent clarity and VoIP features for your own phone (through a VoIP adaptor) or you have an @phone then get Skype - it kicks ass.

I also use the program quite a bit to talk to my uncle and his family in Romania and the clarity is exceptional. It sure beats paying for the international phone calls and having a "delay" in the line if he is calling from a computer. So I recommend it to anyone.
