JohnSK
Hi, I was wondering if anyone here has an insight into Fourier series. I have 3 problems to solve but don't know where to start - read my math book and it's written in a super-complicated manner and I can't make anything out of it. So if anyone here is familiar with Fourier series - could you guide me through the solution? 1. Find the FS of periodic function f(x)=3x+2. Interval=<0,2Pi> 2. Find the FS of periodic function f(x)=|x|. Interval =<-Pi,Pi> 3. Find the FS of function defined as: f(x) = -------> x for x <0,Pi/2> -------> Pi-x for x <Pi/2,Pi> Interval=<0,Pi> If anyone has an idea how this all workx plz give me some hints :) Thanx in advance.. john
Hum
 I'm Math retarded, but maybe these sites can help ... http://www.math.com/tables/advanced/fourier.htm http://www.sosmath.com/ http://www.brainmass.com/

neowin_hipster
Are you familiar with laplace transformations? One of the key tricks with a fourier series is determining whether it is even or odd. That way you only have to deal with one of the sine or cosine series. After that its merely mechanical assuming you are familiar in solving series equations. That's all i'm going to give you at the moment. Does your book have derivations? Do you understand the derivations?
neowin_hipster
Also, another hint i neglected to give. Are you sure what the fourier series can even do for you? It merely describes a signal as a sum of sine or cosine waves. Basically, each wave is superimposed on each other. Like if you were analyzing radio frequencies, this would be a usefull tool to split up the spectrum of frequencie.
